Teacher Book Cabinet – An SVG Cuts project!

Hey all! I wanted to share this cute little book cabinet I made! Did you know teacher appreciation week is NEXT week? All of us SVG Cuts designers made some great projects to inspire you! Now you can get busy crafting this weekend! Whoo-hoo!

I was going to keep this simple and just do books.. then, I thought a cabinet would be cute. After having it all complete (so I thought), I felt it was missing something.. so, I added a pencil holder to the side. Then… I felt the top needed something, so I threw on a lunch bag! Ta-da! I really, really loved making this and had a lot of fun with it!

OK.. now on to a pile of photos.. you know how I roll! LOL!

Yes, I’m still going.. did your computer crash yet?.. ;)

Thansk for stopping by!

My FIRST design team project for FCCB!

That’s right! My very first project for the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog is up! (Or, will be on Monday morning!) This week’s challenge is to make a card with a square shape using green and gold (dark yellow).. I figured most people might do St. Patrick’s Day stuff, so I decided to go with something different. I chose the cute waterfall dino card from SVG Cuts Waterfall Cards SVG Kit. Since both my girls enjoy dinosaurs, I decided to girlie it up! I added some funky lips and a flower… it came out cute.. and funny! Those big ‘ol lips look pretty silly, lol. The girls liked it, of course!

SVG Collections Used : Waterfall Cards SVG Kit, Spring Bunnies SVG Collection and Birthday Dino’s SVG Collection (all from

The card was all cut in SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot).

The card base is 11×5.5″

The scalloped gold heart base is cut to 5×5″.. It’s an SVG and I have NO idea where I got it from :( I do know it was a freebie!

I cut the lips from a heart shape found in the SCAL library. The flower is also in the SCAL library. I didn’t note sizes, so maybe play around with what works for you?

The balloon from Birthday Dinos is cut at 4″ high.

Bow from Spring Bunnies (Tulip Bunny) is cut at 3.55″ high. (Goes on the balloon)

I used my Cuttlebug to emboss and I put some Glossy Accents on the lips.

The sentiment stamp is from Pink by Design! It would also look great stamped inside the dino’s mouth!

This card was really fun to put together! I hope you like it even though my girly dino has hooker lips, LOL!

Pretty Little Valentine

Sunday… bleh! Football… double ‘bleh!’

I made this little box about a week ago. It’s so simple and just purty! Yes, I meant to type ‘purty’. I used DCWV’s paper stack ‘Rustic’ it’s a great stack to have!

I didn’t keep track of my sizes but these are the SVG Collections I used to make this cute box!

Candy Hearts : Breezy Meadow Butterflies : Rosies Ribbons : 3D Flowers : The bow from Charlotte’s Favor Boxes : Text is cut in SCAL with one of my fonts.

I’ve been sitting here thinking of soooomething to make while I am dealing with football on in the background. I am not feeling very crafty at the moment.. so, I think I will go paint this cute little table we found at our community dump.. yes, I am serious. I wear many hats and you can just add a ‘trash digger’ hat to my head, LOL! I was going to keep it for my craft area but, I decided it would look great in my older daughter Autumn’s room (she has a vintage-ish looking room going on, if I can ever get it finished!) And speaking of her, I snapped a few quick pics of her this morning. *sigh* she is growing so fast! she will be 8 in April!

OK, crafty peeps.. toodles!

Simply cute Valentine’s goodie box!

I swear.. with all the goodie boxes I make you would think all I do is pass out candy and whatnot, lol. No, I don’t.. I just really enjoy making them!

This one is simple and quick to make with a mix of a cartridge and a couple SVG files.

Cricut cartridge Simply Charmed (I cut the legs off the ladybug) : SVG Cuts Favor boxes : SVG Cuts Rosie’s Ribbons : Swiss dot embossing folder : Hearts embossing folder : Paper of your choice

Use a Cuttlebug for embossing! Fill up with some candy (or even a cupcake would fit in here!) and give it to your love bug! :)

Yes, I know Valentine’s Day is still a month away.. LOL!

My first design team project for!

I finished this up the other day and just adore these little treat boxes! Want to learn how to make these and the recipe for cake balls? Check out the blog post over at SVG Cuts! Tamara’s Corner

Now.. a few pictures!

Yummy! Don’t forget to pick up the SVG files at to make your own!

Have you snagged your FREE SVG file yet?

SVG Cuts has this adorable file availiable for free download! I suggest getting it if you would like to make the next project I will be sharing! Yep, yep.. get it before it’s gone!

SVG Cuts Freebie

SVG.. LMNOP.. What?

So.. I know of at least 3 people who have purchased a Cricut thanks to me (Muahaha!) and now I have some people wondering what an SVG is.. what Sure Cuts A Lot is, etc. Sooo.. I am going to keep this short and sweet and hopefully answer some questions.

First.. Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) is a program you can use for cutting SVG files with your Cricut. There is also another program called Make The Cut.

I obviously use SCAL. If you are looking to purchase this program (or get more information about the features) do so from HERE and use the code SCAL20 for $20.00 off! For less than the price of a full priced cartridge you can do SO much! Wow.. that was very ‘infomercial’ of me, LOL. “And when you buy one.. we will send you another one free along with this other piece of junk that will break in two days, valued at $1 million dollars!”. Hmmm. Yeah.

Anyhow… Now that you get an idea what SCAL is for.. You willneed SVG files.

An SVG (Scalable Vector Graphic) is used with your cutting program to well, cut files! We all know I adore SVG Cuts but there are many other places to find SVG files. You can find a lot of what you’re looking for for FREE. Most ‘kits’ and really good detailed SVG’s (like can be purchased for resonable prices! It becomes an addiction hunting down files and growing your library (or mess on a desktop like I have!) I honestly rarely use my cartridges now. It’s sad because I don’t stop buying them, lol. Just today I told myself I was going to make something 100% with cartridges. (I will post those soon!). I reaized what a pain it was to keep switching cartridges for one or two cuts. When in SCAL I just click, click, click.. done.

I also want to add that with SCAL you can ‘trace’ images to make your own SVG’s. You can also use fonts and dingbats! Very fun (and Cricut doesn’t really have exciting font cartridges).

So yeah.. If you have a Cricut SCAL is pretty much a must have! It’s a great price too!

Hopefully that helped a little bit! Before I go you can check out the SVG Cuts videos for SVG/SCAL help/tutorials.

Happy crafting, friends!

ive Thanks…..

Yes.. ‘ive Thanks!’

I made some Thanksgiving decorations for my mom and with that I made some wood blocks for her covered in some pretty fall paper! On one side it says ‘Thanks’….

Pretty right? :) And the other side.. well, the other side was suppose to say ‘Give’ But, because I wasn’t paying attention.. and it was the last block I made.. it looks like it says ‘ive’..

Egh! Shame on me! Brown on brown… really, Tamara?! I should have made another block but, I was tired and my mom seemed like she didn’t mind so.. ehhh.. oh well.. If these were mine it would bug the crud outta me! All in all they are pretty cute though and will look fabulous on her table this Thanksgiving.. along with THESE…

Annnnnd.. this….

And of course she needs the matching banner I made!

I can’t wait to see it all set up!

You can find the files used on most of these items at the fabulous SVGCUTS.COM

Most the paper used is DCWV ‘Amber Autumn’ stacks! (Found at Joann’s!) And then I used the ‘neutrals’ stack by DCWV!

The turkey that is used on the placecards is the cute little guy from the Create a Critter cartridge!

All we need is a yummy Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixin’s.. Mmmmm! I can’t wait!

I will post my New for me Monday soon… I am waiting for the mail to come ;) It might be a bit later, I am shampooing the carpets today (well, starting on them! It will probably take a few days). I like to do them every year.. and.. it’s been TWO!

How to make the cookie jar card! Featuring files from

I shared my COOKIE JAR CARD earlier and said I would post instructions.. So, here they are!

Now, I didn’t get very many pictures because I took them as I was trying to figure this thing out. Hopefully it helps some of you that might be interested in making it! A video would have been better.. hmm.. maybe I will get a video camera someday! I actually have one, but I hate it, lol.

Hot glue gun

Hole punch

Double sided sticky foam sqaures

jar bottom and top

2 circles for the jar lid.

cookies and ‘icing’

cookie cutters – x2

pan pieces plus an extra bottom piece

scalloped frame top and bottom

To make the removable lid I just traced it out and hand cut.. you will need two of these.

I did some guess work.. I wanted a large card so I cut the jar pieces at 10.050 wide (finished it’s about 10″ high! Love big cards!). The pan was rotated and then cut at about 4.25″ wide (the jar opening should be about 4.5″ if cut at the size I used) The cookies are cut at about 2″ high-ish. The little cookie cutters are about 1.5″ tall. Just play around with it and have fun! I loved creating this card! I see my pan should have had another cookie on it but I lost two of the pieces and was to lazy to cut more, LOL!

Embelishments of your choice. I chose some twine.

I inked a few edges in brown and in silver.

Ribbon of your choice.

Both ‘wrong’ side of the circles.

Assemble cookies.

Cookie cutters will be doubled up for stability.

Glue one ‘lid’ to the wrong side of the bottom of the cookie jar.

Assemble your scalloped edge frame. You can leave it blank to write something later. Or print something out like I did. After I printed it out I just the bottom frame piece as a template to trace and hang cut the shape.

Glue your pan together with your cookies and any text. Glue all edges down good!

Now, glue the lid circle onto the lid.

Decorate the top of the cookie jar. I opened the file and broke it apart, removed the circles that came on the file and then added these buttons. I love them! I used twine to make them look even better! These were hot glued on.

Now, take your back piece and just set the cookie pan over it in the center so you can kinda see where you want it to lay. Take some foam double sided sticky squares and set them around the pan like so -

The squares will help hold it together along with the glue.. and also to support and guide the slide in part as well as have it ‘lifted’ a bit.

This is where I got lazy about taking photos, LOL.. But, you just glue the pan to the edge of the lid.

I glued the bottom and top pieces of the jar together with hot glue to make it more sturdy! To help prevent the top edge of the cookie jar from lifting when someone pulls the cookie pan in and out, I used a hole punch and tied the twine through it. The cookie cutters are hot glued on. Then I added a little bow, hot glued as well.

Once everything is all dry slide your pan in and you’re done! It is SO very cute and if you glue the cookies down really well (get close to the edges) then it will not ‘snag’ and slides in and out really nicely!

I created some text in SCAL and added it to my card!

Ta-da!! I really hope this made sense.. and inspires some of you! Thanks for reading! have a crafty weekend, everyone!
