“Tamara, seriously.. Create a Critter AGAIN?!”

Yup.. again.

I big pink fluffy heart LOVE them dern critters!

I had some styrofoam balls laying around and decided to do something with them. I decided to make a cute little tree for no reason at all, just for fun!

Photobucket

After I made it, I thought.. wow, that looks weird, LOL! It needs a branch or something…. and it’s pretty heavy for a ‘paper’ project because of the styrofoam and hot glue all over it. My son thinks it’s a bat! he whacked himself in the head with it! LOL!

Photobucket

The tree needed something… anything, really. It was kinda lame by itself.. I mean, it would look CUTE in my daughter’s owl themed room! Too bad the color’s don’t match. I decided to pull out the good ol’ Create a Citter and make some animals treat bags like my Springtime Buddies that I made awhile ago. I do love those little bags! I decided to go with a fall theme (Hello…..! Can we get through spring and summer first!?) I know, fall, really?… But look how cute!

Photobucket

The little fox makes me smile.. so cute!

This would be great for birthday party favors! Well, if a tree and animals fit your theme! Jungle theme? Fun stuff!

And now for more pictures.. what? Did you think you could get away with only a few photos from me? Ha! You sooo cra-zay!

Photobucket

You might have noticed that not all my critters are ‘decapitated’.. sometimes it just won’t work out for that particular die cut, so you can just adhere the bottom half of your critter to the bag.. OR, you can glue it to the back of the bag instead. For this project, only my raccoon worked.

Umm….. Yes, I have issues.. and my son asked me for a dinosaur! So.. Mr. Dino joined the Fall Friends party!

Photobucket

“Awwww.. that’s cute”…

I know.. I know.. I couldn’t help it. That’s my dark side coming out… and it made my kids laugh!

Create a Critter, Straight From The Nest, and Forever Young cartridges and this file created by moi! Download 1springtime_buddies_bag_HappyLifeCraftyWife This is an SVG file. Open it and just cut away! to make this to my sizing, set this to cut at 9.630 WIDE. Make sure ‘Keep Proportions’ is checked. (If you have problems downloading it, email me with my contact link over there to the right… and I will send you the file!) Typepad download is wonky sometimes!

*** If you use my SCAL file and share anything you made with my file PLEASE link back to my blog. Do not post the file on your website/blog.. simply link back to this post. Thank ya! ***

For the tree.. get a 3″ strofoam ball and a hot glue gun! The leaves are all cut from SFTN from ‘branch 1′ cut at 2 3/4″. Cut a bunch.. I think I cut them 35 times? Glue them all over your ball, and burn your fingers while doing it.. I did it several times!

After that cut flowers from the shadow of ‘flower 5′ on FY. I cut 3 for each flower sized at 1 1/4″, 1″ and 3/4″. Layer them and fold the petals up. I made 6 of them for my tree.

The base of the tree is a rectangle rolled up and glued to the bottom. I did this before I added the leaves.

Photobucket

That’s it for the tree! Please see THIS POST on how to make the bags with animals!

Here are the sizes for the animals I used:

Fox – 3 1/2″

Owl – 3 1/2″

Squirrel – 3 3/4″

‘coon – 4″

Dinosaur – 10″

What? You don’t want to add the dinosaur? Psssh! You’re no fun! *wink*

Happy crafting!! You all might be seeing some changes to the blog soon.. I’m ready for some fun summer colors! Yay!

Toodles!

Thanks a bunch!

May is here and flowers are in full bloom! This week at Fantabulous Cricut the challenge is Flower Shower! Stop on by the blog for some design team inspiration and to enter the challenge for this weeks giveaway!

I decided to try one of the popular flower pot cards. I like it, but wish I would have done a few things different.. like make the scalloped trim come down a bit more and maybe add some grass, lady, bee, etc.

The stamp sentiment is from My Craft Spot! Works perfect for this!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

If you’d like to make one, I used SCAL basic shapes and the Forever Young Cricut cartridge!

Photobucket

In SCAL select the trapezoid shape. Uncheck ‘keep proportions’ and size to 5.00w x 4.276h. Cut two.

The scalloped trim is something I made awhile back by welding circles to a rectangle. The circles were sized to .60w and just weld to any size rectangle that will work!

The rectangle for the insert was cut to 3.00 x 4.00 and attached to a half circle sized 4.00w. This is what the back looks like after adhering them -

Photobucket

The flowers were all random cuts from Forever Young and several layers cut between 3.00″ and 1.00″. You just fold up the edges a bit and layer how you’d like! Very easy! I actually made this card pretty quickly!

You can’t really tell, but I also have some pop dots under the scalloped trim -

Photobucket

Next time, I will cut it a little longer so it shows better!

I think I will give this style card another go and try for more details, it was really fun to make!

I hope you like it!

Cute Wall Decoration – Right at Home Scrapbooking project!

It’s me again!!

Here is a project created for Right at Home Scrapbooking! I worked with some paper from Echo Park’s Playground collection. I love these papers.. I will do another project using them soon, as I have plenty left!

I rarely ever make anything boyish, so I decided to make my son this cute wall/door hanging decoration for his room! If you want all the details you can get them HERE. You will need SCAL or MTC and the SVG Cuts Jonathan’s Bears Collection

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Simple and cute, right?! My son loves it! Be sure to swing on over to RAH’s blog for details!! You can take this basic idea and make party signs, etc.!

Anyhow, I have been so busy lately! (crafting, of course) and this is what happens with 4 days straight of paper crafting and me just tossing things to the side to pick up later (ahem.. more like try and ignore it all ’til it get’s outta control! LOL!)

Photobucket

It will have to wait another day.. No time today to clean it. My ‘baby’ is 8.. ack, 8.. EIGHT!!!! Lordy, she is growing so fast! I swear it was JUST her 7th birthday, like.. last month? lol. We’re having a small celebration at home with cake and some presents (I have GOT to share with you this amazing deal I got on her gifts!) then, in May we’re heading to Disneyland for a few days! Whoo-hoo! It will be my sons first time going!

OK, my crafty peeps.. I will talk to you all later! I’ve got a project to work on tomorrow for Fantabulous Cricut! Not quite sure what I am doing yet, but I am really hoping to start on it tonight.

Teacher Book Cabinet – An SVG Cuts project!

Hey all! I wanted to share this cute little book cabinet I made! Did you know teacher appreciation week is NEXT week? All of us SVG Cuts designers made some great projects to inspire you! Now you can get busy crafting this weekend! Whoo-hoo!

I was going to keep this simple and just do books.. then, I thought a cabinet would be cute. After having it all complete (so I thought), I felt it was missing something.. so, I added a pencil holder to the side. Then… I felt the top needed something, so I threw on a lunch bag! Ta-da! I really, really loved making this and had a lot of fun with it!

OK.. now on to a pile of photos.. you know how I roll! LOL!

I think I will make another one with something else in place of the pinwheel… I am not sure why I waited so long for this set! It’s a must have!

Well….. Kimberly from My Craft Spot designs ‘em… she also sells pretty little vintage bakers twine and gorgeous vintage ribbons! I posted about some I got back in the fall HERE Little did I know when I ordered the Glossy Accents and ribbon from her, that in March I would get an email from her asking me to be on her DESIGN TEAM! Pretty cool right? Umm, yeah!

Oh, and of course I said yes, I know.. I’m crazy! But my schedule has opened up some so I will have plenty of time to get all my various DT projects done! I’m actually ahead on some, so that’s even better, LOL!

My first DT project for MCS goes up on the 25th! Whoo-hoo!

Until next time,

Bunny-licious.

So, while I was busy making my design team project for Fantabulous Cricut I got sidetracked when I remembered a kit I saw LAST year. It was a kit with little cups and precut ears, nose, etc. to glue on and make a bunny container. I started to brainstorm and decided to whip one up real quick. This took me no time at all to put together once I cut my pieces. So fun and simple.. I can totally see making a pleathora of these just because I can whip them out so fast! You know the saying ‘Multiply like rabbits..” LOL!

Here is today’s paper cuteness!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Best of all.. I used Sure Cuts a Lot basic shapes.. that’s it!

Here’s how:

You will need Sure Cuts a Lot.. not sure if Make The Cut has a basic shapes library? If you use Cricut design studio, I am sure you can figure this out with some cartridge shaes! Heck, you could even cut shapes out by hand, folks! *high five* You will also need a container of some sort. I used a breadcrumb container so the cut sizes I give you are going by that.

First, cut your container down to about 3″ tall.

Photobucket

Hmm, I have a sudden craving for chicken parmesean!

Anyhow.. cut a piece of paper 3.5″ high and 11″ wide. Wrap it around the container gluing as you go. I used hot glue… and I burnt myself.. and my glue gun got stuck to my comfy velour pants. Yes, I am totally messy and spazzy (is that a word? LOL!) when I craft…

…… and yes, I wear velour pants. They’re comfy, Mmm-kay?!

Moving on…

Did you cut your paper yet?.. Get on it!

Photobucket

Ink up the edges if you want.. I think it really helps the project stand out a bit more. Plain ol’ white was a little boring.

Cut and assemble -

ALL SHAPES CAN BE FOUND IN THE SCAL LIBRARY UNDER ‘BASIC SHAPES’

Ears: Oval shape, uncheck ‘keep proportions’ size 2 ovals at 4.00h and 1.50w. The inside of the ears are 2.730h and 1.00w.

Nose: Rounded heart shape, uncheck ‘keep proportions’ size at 1.715w and 1.097h.

Bow: Rounded square shape, uncheck ‘keep proportions’ size at 4.00w and 1.50h. Kinda crinkle it in the middle a bit. Cut a piece of paper at half an inch wide and 1.5″ long. This will wrap around the crinkled part of the bow.

Eyes: Two ovals, uncheck ‘keep proportions’ size one at .3355 and .500h. Size the other at .291w and .433h. I used my white ink pen to add a catchlight in the eye. Glossy accents over the eyes will look great!

For the whiskars I just cut thin strips with my scissors… crinkle them up and glue them on!

To create pink cheeks, use your ink pad or dab some ink on a Q-tip and rub it on. You can also use paper chalk.

I am thinking of having my girls make one for each of their teachers and I will fill them with some yummy cookies! It’s the perfect size to stack cookies in.

As always, I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial! If so, please click the ‘LIKE’ button for Facebook!

Annnnd.. I really need to do a post with some questions answered and other random things I’ve been meaning to post. Maybe today? I promise I’m not ignoring all your emails and comment questions.. OK.. maybe YOUR’S! lol j/k. I’m really not that mean… really. OK.. I have nothing to do tonight.. soooo.. I will be back with a long rambling post for you all that have been waiting to hear back from me.

And can I just whine a minute?.. Of course I can.. it’s my blog.. neener-neener!

It’s snowing.. again! I kid you not, we’ve gotten more snow since ‘spring’ started than we have all winter! Ok.. maybe not.. but it’s really close to it! I am beyond ready for warmer weather… only because I have some darling dresses and sandals I am dying to put on my girls! LOL! Go away snow!!

Toodles!

Bunny Cuteness!

I just LOVE the cute Spring Bunnies SVG Collection over at svgcuts.com! I knew the moment it came out I had to create something with them! I made a few things.. Some cute egg wrappers, gift boxes (bunny and a carrot) and also a cute little bunny basket! I really had fun with this collection! You can see some more pictures and all the details RIGHT HERE

I have a few projects to work on this weekend.. one being a Design Team project for Right At Home Scrapbooking! I’m not 100% set on what I will be making for them yet, but it will be cute.. of course! :)

Alrighty crafty friends! Talk to you soon! I would love it you would ‘like’ this post to share it on Facebook!

Springtime buddies.

Yes, I know I literally posted a few hours ago saying how busy I was.. but, when I get an idea in my head I have to try it right away! So.. lucky you, here is another tutorial.

I got my inspiration for these from some SVG files I saw. I decided to whip up my own little bag and use my cute critters from the always awesome Create A Critter cartridge and this was the result –

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Don’t they make you smile? I mean.. who doesn’t love decapitated critters? Ha!

Wanna make some? Do you have it in you to chop these poor critters heads off all just to make a cute bag?..

Well, if ya do.. then let’s cook up some springtime buddies!

Here’s whatcha need:

Create a Critter cartridge and this file created by moi! Download 1springtime_buddies_bag_HappyLifeCraftyWife This is an SVG file. Open it and just cut away! to make this to my sizing set this to cut at 5.820 HIGH. Make sure ‘Keep Proportions’ is checked.

*** If you use my SCAL file and share anything you made with my file PLEASE link back to my blog. Do not post the file on your website/blog.. simply link back to this post. Thank ya! ***

You will need to score it as shown:

Photobucket

Photobucket

If you don’t have a paper scorer you can just fold it.. but, these are only like $8.00 – $10.00 and make life grand! No more uneven fold lines!

Glue it shut and set aside. Time to make some critters!

Make your frog 4″ high and your chick 4 1/2″ high. The grass is 2″ high. (There are several animals you can use for this!)

Glue ‘em all together and then cut their heads off!

Photobucket

The chicks eyes look weird because I added Glossy Accents and it wasn’t dry yet. Ah.. who am I kidding? The poor chick is crying! I mean, wouldn’t you if your head was just chopped off?

OK, enough talking about decapitated animals.. before you all think I have issues.

What? No I didn’t just twitch.. gah! *twitch*

OK.. moving on…

Glue the body on the bag like so:

Photobucket

Add a little sticky foam square to keep it shut. Glue the head onto the top flap.

Photobucket

That’s it, folks!

Have fun with it! Wouldn’t these be adorable for the kiddos on Easter?

Toodles!

Ch-ch- ch-chain of heeeeearts…. ooooh..ooooh.

*I was singing to myself as I wrote my title*

Sooooo… want to make a super cute and easy Valentine’s Day decoration? (I am pretty sure I’ve mentioned in my blog a time or two that I am sick of Valentine’s Day crafts.. but.. I lied.) This is something the kiddos will totally enjoy making.. I think so anyways, lol. My girls are at school and Austin would just eat the tape, glue, and paper and then manage chop a finger off somehow… so…yeah. I had fun making this!

And the best part? Ya don’t even need a Cricut! (But, you should get one.. because it’s awesome!) You can just cut out 9″ long strips at 1/2″ wide and there ya go.

But… for my Cricut peeps that have SCAL (or something of the sort) you can get this done a lot faster! And since I should be working on my eBay auctions instead of playing with paper, I was all about getting done fast! (I eBay my kiddos small clothes twice a year.. it’s a total pain and takes forever but I like the cash when it’s all said and done).

This is how you do this in SCAL (Sure Cuts A Lot) Not sure if there is a way you can do this in Design Studio or not?.. Anyhoot..

Open SCAL and open a 12×12 mat. (or 6×12 if you have a smaller Cricut) and go to your shapes window (Window>Shapes) and select the rectangle. In properties uncheck ‘Keep Proportions’ and enter 9.000 wide and .500 high. Fill up your mat with as many as you can (copy paste) and then you are ready to cut!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cut as many colors as you’d like..

Man.. I really wish I had a Starbucks coffee right now.. random, I know.. but yikes I got a craving!.

OK, now fold your strips in half.. like so.

Photobucket

(this is where I would like two extra hands to take pictures to show you all… but, I don’t.. ) You need to fold the two ends in to form a heart shape. Use glue if you want.. but it slows ya down having to hold them to dry.. or, you can whip out your hair clips like I do..

Photobucket

But, even that gets irritating. Get yourself some double sided tape. Works wonders and holds it really well! :) Then get busy making your chain! If you’re like me you will forget to attach a heart or two.. or 7 *ahem* to your chain before you tape it. Then you will grumble to yourself how dumb you are and then think you can take it apart to save your paper heart.. and nope.. it rips.. then you remind yourself how dumb you are.. again.

Not saying that happened or anything.. *whistles*

TA-DA!!!! Are you impressed? Yes, I know you are!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Cute.. easy… If you have your kiddos make it then it will keep them outta your hair for a good 10-15 minutes (score!) Have fun with it!

My True Love – Valentine Heart Candy Box

Valentine’s day is coming soon and I have been trying to get all my little goodies done! I always give the kiddos a little box of chocolate on Valentine’s day.. Well, this is my first Valentine’s with a Cricut so I wanted to step it up a bit and make my own. I had these awesome Conversation Heart Box files from Svg Cuts and was trying to think of some way to make it an actual top and bottom for that traditional candy heart box look.

After some thinking it came to me! And I LOVE it! I honestly think it looks better in person for some reason.. So pretty! ignore the wrinkled paper… I am using  a spare glue and it’s mean and wrinkles my pretty paper.

Photobucket

I love the stickers in this paper collection! I used a few of them on my project.

This 3d rose makes me happy *love*

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

And.. because I know you are dying to make one..

SVG files – Candy Heart Boxes : Breezy Butterflies : Crush On You Boxes (rose)

Cartridges needed – Sentimentals (I only used a tag from here. You can use your own tags or snag one from this SVG Collection Tags Galore)

Cut your hearts and tab strip in SCAL or MTC at 11″ Cut an additional tab strip at 11″ (Go to OBJECT> BREAK APART and delete your two hearts *this is in SCAL*)

Take your tab strips and trim them at 2″. SO you will have a 2″ strip and a smaller strip. Do this for both.

Cut your tabs so they are pretty small. This helps form a smoother shape to the box.

Photobucket

Score your tabs (or just fold them over) and attach like so:

Photobucket

Photobucket

You will want a fast drying glue to work quickly. Also.. to have a ‘lip’ I went around the edges of the heart and marked off at 1/2″. This will help form the box better and make sure you lid fits nicely.

Now, because I wanted a larger box I had to glue together two tab strips… just make sure you do not cut one upside down like I did, LOL! You can hide this line later with an embellishment or sticker. if you make your box smaller then it would be best to weld the two in SCAL.

Photobucket

Once you get back to your starting point then connect it with your loose tab strip. (You will need to trim the loose strip down about 5″ or so)

Yes… I use hair clips to hold things in place to dry..

Photobucket

Do the same for the lid. IMPORTANT — Your box will not close nicely if you do not match up the ‘V’ in the heart.. make sure you glue them in the same spots!

Photobucket

Voila’!

Photobucket

Time to decorate it!

Before I even made this I knew I had to have a 3d rose on it! The SVG Cuts roses are easier to put together than I thought they would be, especially with a hot glue gun!

Photobucket

I inked my edges… I left some white area to show through the paper core because I like the way it looks in this project! If you need some help with the roses check out the SVG Cuts video

To create the fanned circles you just cut a strips at 1 1/4′ x 11″ (for the top one) and another at 1″ x 11″ for the side. Score/fold them at 1/2″. Glue the ends together for a circle and that’s it!

The paper collection is STUNNING! From the wonderful Echo Park line ‘Be Mine’.

I really hope you love this project and it inspires you! I had so much fun making it that I am working on a dinosaur box for my son! I will show you all in a few days!

Toodles!
