“Trick or Treat, smell my feet… Give me something….

…. That I can smash on your furniture and carpet!”

That’s exactly what Play-Doh is! Not only does it smell cruddy, it’s a total pain to get out of the carpet. My kids love the stuff, but someone ALWAYS gets it smushed somewhere. I always tell them to stay on the play mat with it, but someone has to come and show me their creation and a little ball of salty dough mess falls on the ground and gets stepped on.

I always love to give little goodie bags to my girls’ classmates and friends.. They usually include candy, pencils, erasers, plastic spiders, sticky hands/body parts, stickers, maybe a cookie… and PLAY-DOH. Kids love it, most parents hate it.. and I like to be evil, so I send Play-Doh just to get the parents riled up LOL!

The kiddos and I stayed in jammies all day! I know, we’re so nasty! I won’t tell you the last time I showered.. LOL j/k. Another boring day at home lead me to gettin’ crafty and I made some treat bag toppers to show you how cute and SIMPLE using print and cut is! This is going to make school party favors and such go by SUPER fast! I REFUSE to paper piece 60 treat bags/boxes for my girls’ classmates. Nope.. not gonna happen! Thank that crafty Gods for this amazing little machine!

All ya need is a little free time (I know.. FREE time? Most mamas don’t know what free time is anymore. I can’t even go have a potty break in peace!).. *sigh*…. You also need some awesome Halloween paper/digital paper and some spookingly cute Halloween clipcart! There are TONS out there, but I LOVE Jazzy Patterns! She has a little Etsy shop and she designs some fabulous stuff! She (Tatjana) is sweet as sugar too! If you happen to chit-chat with her, let her know I sent ya!

Here’s what I made with her ‘Happy Halloween’ collection!

Photobucket

Yeah, just Play-Doh.. no, I am not quite that evil to send several containers of it, I just don’t have any Halloween candy.

Photobucket

I mean, How cute are those graphics? And as usual, the Silly-butt did an awesome job cutting them out!

Photobucket

Photobucket

See that amazing Halloween twine? That’s from Trendy Twine! <—— That’s the Facebook page! Go say “Hi!”…..  I love my Halloween twine!

Photobucket

I used my Epiphany Crafts Shape Tool for the candies! Made them look 3D and shiney! Oooooh… Shiiiiney! I love my shape tool!

I know what you’re thinking… I ‘LOVE’ a lot of things.. It’s a problem I have, seriously. I love you, too.. Just sayin’! <3 *wink-wink*

Wanna make some?…

Photobucket

  • Get the pretties all ready for print and cut in Silhouette Studio.. or whatever program you use, lol.
  • I didn’t keep track of all my sizes, but I do know the children were cut around 2.80″ and 2.50″ high. So you can size them from that and then kinda size the rest however you think it looks best. That’s pretty much what I did.

Photobucket

  • Once you print ‘em out.. run them through the Silhouette and watch it do it’s magic..
  • On a side note.. that little witch girl from this angle looks a little scared..

Photobucket

  • Cut out a shape to fit over the bag. I use Ziploc sandwich sized bags that are 6.50w. I made my covers 6.60w and 6.25 high. Score at 3″ and fold. Use the 3.25″ side as the front. Add a scalloped trim like I did if you want.
  • Yep, I changed my mind and went with the orange diamond print instead of the green. I wanted to switch it up a bit from the witch one.
  • I used Tombo adhesive to stick it to the bag.
  • Thread some twine through the top if you’d like!
  • Easy peasy! Now just decorate them!

Fun and simple! The kids would probably enjoy doing this project too! Use some 3d foam adhesive to add dimension.. ink the edges if you’d like.. add ribbon, tags, glitter.. go for it!

Until next time!

Easy little Halloween card!

I’ve been searching for some awesome Halloween paper and came across My Mind’s Eye’s new Mischievous line! Holy cuteness! I will need a few of these kits, for sure. I’ve been stocking up on Apothecary from Echo Park and I needed some new stuff so everything won’t look the same, lol.

I posted the other day on Facebook about my $1.00 bin finds at Michaels Craft Store.. some awesome Halloween stamps! There are more, and I plan to go pick them up soon! How cute are these?

Photobucket

And for only a buck, they stamp great! Although… I am not sure what ‘great’ really is seems I don’t really use stamps. I chalk that up to the fact that I don’t really OWN many stamps, lol. I have a folder of some I designed though.. Thinking of making them availiable for digital format.. Anyhow.. My new paper came today so I had to play! I gotta say, I LOVE the touch of light blue in this line! So different for Halloween!

Here’s my simple little card using my cheapie stamps…

Photobucket

I stamped onto light grey cardstock and then cut them out… inked the edges a bit. I like how it came out!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I also love the pleated trim! Do you?… Here’s how to make a paper pleated trim:

  • Cut 1 or 2 strips at 12″w and 1.5″h. (for my card at 7″w I cut two strips, one at 12″w and one at 8″w to create one long strip)
  • Drag out your score board and score at 1″, 1.5″, 2.5″3″ and so on… you will want spacing like so… 1″,1/2″, 1″, 1/2″.. like so:

Photobucket

  • Run a line of adhesive tape down the center. (Sorry for the cruddy pic)

Photobucket

  • Then, pleat fold at the 1/2″ marks like so.. Adhere two strips together if needed.. You can make these any size you’d like! Enjoy!

Photobucket

Easy, right?! Adds a nice touch to a card, bag, etc.

Photobucket

I hope you all like my little card! Thanks for stopping by!

Witches Hat Giftbox Tutorial

As most of you know, I created a pretty cool witches hat giftbox for Echo park’s CHA summer 2011 booth! It got GREAT feedback and I figured that I would get this tutorial done for you all so you can try to make it yourselves!

It’s a lot of fun and not that much work! I made a video for the hat part since it’s easier to show in a in a video than to explain picture by picture. First, I will expalin everything else, and then add in the video for the hat at the end!

Photobucket

SUPPLIES -

  • Hot glue
  • Glue
  • Vintage crinkle ribbon. Mine is from HERE I used ‘almost black’ and ‘steel’
  • Apothecary paper kit from Echo Park Paper Co.
  • Ultra fine glitter (black and a dark grey)
  • 20G Jewelry wire in black
  • Ink in dark grey and black.
  • Black eyelets
  • Paper mache’ cone/cardboard cone at 4″ diameter.

SVG Collections needed (you can always make this without SVG’s)

SCAL/MTC basic shapes

  • Circle cut at 9″
  • 3 rectangle shapes at 1.50″h and 10.00″w

MISC.

  • Bats.. I found a FREE SVG file, however I can’t seem to find it again. Happy Hauntings cartridge has one as well!

1). Make the big boutique box. You will want to use the Square flat trio LARGEST one. Cut as sized in SCAL. (if you want to make your own box make it 11×11″ or larger.

2). The label was different on my original, but you can use the label from SVG Cuts Strawberry lane colelction. file is: label1_bottom.svg cut at 3.00w

3). 3D flower from SVG Cuts is in the ‘extras’ folder. File is: 28.svg sized in layers from 3.00w to 1.25w. Crickle and ink edges, etc.

Design Tips:

  • Add ink.. ALL OVER, lol. Inking add SO much!
  • Add the sticker from the collection kit to the hat!
  • Glitter the bats and web trims. I brushed on Mod Podge and then sprinkled away! The web was done in black and the bats were done in a dark grey. I used Recollections brand glitter which works GREAT!
  • Add eyelets and crinkle ribbon to the tag on the front. Add a name, etc. or stickers like I did!

Time for the videos! This will show you how to make the hat and assemble. Once the hat it done you just stick it onto the box!

I kept my face out of this video, so you get to stare at my sausage fingers! LOL! I’m not feeling very well, so I didn’t want to put on makeup or do my hair, lol. I had to break the video up into 3 parts, and they are each about 8mins long.

***Grrrr… for some reason the sound is ahead of the actual video. Sorry, not sure why it’s like that? I need to figure out this whole You Tube junk! or maybe it’s just me?.. It seems to lag about 15-20 seconds? ***

Video 1: You Tube link (may be better quality?) And yes, I totally give you all the finger, egh.. sorry, lol.. it was obviously an accident!

Video 2 – You Tube Link

Video 3 – You Tube Link

OK, that’s it, enjoy!! Hopefully the lagging isn’t too bad?… Any questions, just ask in a comment and I will reply in the comments for you!

Sew Easy.. Sorta??…

Hello, friends!

You might have seen on my Facebook Page that I got the Sew Easy recently.. as in.. all of it, lol! (I had a feeling I would love it!) Here’s the loot! Look at all those pretty colors!

Photobucket

I was finally able to open it all up and get to playin’! Since my brain is in Halloween mode, I made a little Halloween giftbag! I didn’t spend too much time on it, since I have to get my blogiversary projects done. I do love the way it came out! I wanted to add a tag and other little things, maybe later.

Here it is! My first project using the Sew Easy!

Photobucket

I’ve been adding eyelets to anything I can lately.. :) Photobucket

Photobucket

I picked up these little wood stars at Michaels the other day, wasn’t sure what I would do with them at first. I think they are great for Halloween projects! I inked them up and hot glued them onto wire.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Yep, the stitching is a bit crooked on one side. That was the very first side I did and kinda messed up. I already had it inked with the jack-o-lantern face on it, so I didn’t want to start over. It doesn’t look too bad though.

A few thoughts on this product..

If you don’t know certain stitches you might have to do a little research on the stitch you’re trying to do. Like this one, called a blanket stitch. It’s a little time consuming until you get the hang of it. I know how to blanket stitch by hand, but on the paper and how the stitch was done on the paper (not right on the edge) it took a little figuring out. I just sat in my recliner and hand stitched it, it was relaxing actually!

NO, this does not come out like something would from a sewing machine. These are embroidery flosses! I actually like it because it stands out more.

The mat is a MUST HAVE! You need a bit of pressure to pierce through the paper, especially thicker paper like AC cardstock.

But yeah, super fun and easy to use if you are familiar with the more difficult stitches… if not, You Tube would be helpful!

I’ve got several more ideas already.. like little stocking cards around Christmas, etc. I might get creative and stitch on names!

I hope you all like my little bag! Now time for me to get over to You Tube and see if my videos for my Echo Park witch hat box are ready for you all! (they were lagging a bit, grrr..)

Talk to you all soon!

The 19th is here.. You know what that means! CHA REVEALS!!!!!

Today is the day I get to share my CHA Echo Park booth projects with you all! Yes, I have been talking about it a lot on my FACEBOOK PAGE and now I can stop yappin’ about it and actually show you all! After I tell you all a little story..

I was contacted on July 6th asking if I would be able to design some projects for Echo Park Paper to show at CHA… I wish you all could have seen my face when I read that email! I was SO stinkin’ excited and could not believe they would contact ME, let alone read my blog.. I mean, who am I?…

I replied back saying I would.. I mean, WHO would turn that down? A crazy person, that’s who! Then, before I heard back about my deadline, I thought to myself, “Gee, isn’t CHA THIS month?”.. Ummm, yeah. *panic begins to set in*…. I was told that they needed my projects by the 14th.. *gulp*… AND they still needed to ship me the paper! *double gulp*…. I told myself, “You’ve got this, Tamara!”… (I really did say that…. Psssh! Don’t try to pretend you don’t talk to yourself!) So, I got a big box of awesomeness on July 8th in the evening and immediately got busy! As soon as I saw the GORGEOUS paper I was inspired to create! In TWO FULL DAYS I got done.. I was pretty amazed! I shipped them all out on July 11th.. which is an AMAZING day for me.. Not only did I get done super fast and knew my projects would arrive in time, but that evening I was asked to be on their in house design team!

Just imagine, if you will, a crazy woman running through the house screaming like a half pig, half duck.. being strangled. Kinda like, “Quuuuuack.. ah-ah-ah-ah *gasp*..snort, ah- *gasp* ah-ahhhh-.. Quuuuack”.. “Snort”…

My husband asked what my problem was.. and you know what?.. If HE thinks I’m having an ‘issue’ then it’s seriously disturbing!

So yeah, I am excited to say the least! It’s a lot different than any other DT I’ve ever been on and I don’t want to get into too many details, but it’s super-doooper! If you want to meet the other SUPER talented design team members, head on over to the BLOG!

And you get something out of it too.. what?.. PAPER KIT GIVEAWAY’S! Yes, I will be giving away some of the newest kits here on my good ol’ blogity-blog here and there! Yeah, buddy! And I get to give one away NOW!! (See below my projects for details!)

OK.. now that I got that outta my system, time for CHA projects and to get down to business!

*breathe in.. breathe out*…. (Seriously, I’m such a child! I feel like such a celebrity right now… LOL! )

So, first off, if you’re not already following Echo Park’s BLOG or ‘like’ their Facebook Page, then you might have missed out on peeks of some bea-U-tiful new lines! I’m talking about Victoria Gardens and Apothecary Emporium! “Hellooo000oo, GORGEOUS!”

Photobucket  Photobucket <~~~~~~ LOVE!

These were two of the three lines I got to work with! I knew right when I saw Apothecary Emporium on Facebook that I wanted to make some test tube type of project with them. I had two tubes laying around and decided to make my own SVG file to hold them (which will be a free download during my Blogiversary Bash) and decorate it with the cool stickers that come in the kit! I will admit, I don’t usually use stickers, just never really thought to. But these were SO fun!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I used a lot of pewter ink from Color Box! A great color for Halloween stuff (So is black, white and silver!)

Photobucket

Those little stickers fit just right on top of the test tubes!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I stuck some of the stickers on cardstock and cut them out. I then distressed and inked the edges. You can do so much with these stickers alone! These would be great with some Reese’s Pieces or black and orange jelly beans in them! The twine shown is from the awesome Trendy Twine! How awesome is that black and orange?! I think it’s a limited edition, so you might want to go snag some while you can! Go like her Facebook page and let her know I sent ya!

Think that’s neat? Well, this is my FAVORITE! I had visions of doing something like this since LAST Halloween when I first started crafting, I just had no idea where to start! I tackled this and LOVE how it came out. I was sad to ship this one off, for sure! I will have to make another one!.. or at least the hat! The hat is a paper mache cone that I got wet and shaped at the top. I dried it and Mod Podged the paper to it!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I hope you like that vintage crinkle ribbon! I will be giving some away for my Blogiversary!

Photobucket

I used Recollections brand glitter and it works just as nicely as the Martha Stewart stuff…

Photobucket

Photobucket

The photo above shows how I added glitter to the wire holding the bats. It looks awesome in person with black and silver glitter on various elements!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I will share tips on how I made this in the next few days! :) It’s a lot of fun!

Next up, is the Victoria Gardens collection. When I first saw this I had so many ideas coming to me and wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. Then, I remembered a PDF file I saw awhile back to make a very small carousel.. that was it! I HAD to make a vintage looking paper carousel! The PDF was way too small to make any sort of template from so I created my own files in Sure Cuts a Lot from the basic shapes library and a mix of SVG files and created this…

Photobucket

Can I just say I am dang proud of this beauty!? It’s a GIFT BOX! The top section and bottom section are both boxes. I built this thing as if I was building myself a house! lol.. I was very careful with placement and measurements. The center column is stuffed with packing paper and dowel rods for support. I actually had a lot more flowers and things cut out and realized if I went ‘overboard’ it would have been too much since it was such a large piece as is. Again…. 98% of this was made with the SCAL basic shapes library! I will share more about how I made this in a few days.

Don’t those papers totally MAKE the project?.. That roof was a total pain to make! I had to use some rusty math skills to create it!

And, last but not least! The ‘secret’ paper I got to work with! Happy Days… how fun and cute are these papers?

Photobucket

I decided to go fairly simple with a neat 3D project. Sadly, I didn’t get very many photos of this since I got sidetracked and then ran out of time. When I saw these papers I immediately thought ‘diner’.. So, I made an ‘EAT’ sign with 3D letters!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

The dice were a last minute add for that extra something special. You can make a menu and use this to hold it, cool, huh?! Most of this project is made from files at SVG Cuts!

Photobucket

And there you have it! Again, I worked so hard on these! Most of you who read my blog know I love to make 3D projects… and that hat box and carousel really show ‘me’. I don’t usually have time to go all out like I like to.. I hope I got a few of you to say, “WOW!”.. :) I had so much fun working on these! I love starting a project and just going for it! And then to be picked up for Echo Park’s design team after all this! I am truly blessed! This past *almost* first year of paper crafting has been AMAZING for me!

Now, for my giveaway…

Wait, did I mention I am now on ECHO PARK PAPER’S DESIGN TEAM??!!… I did? Oh, well.. in case you forgot or something.. *wink*

*insert big cheesy grin here*

Toodles!

Who me?… Little ol’ ME?

As many of you know I am pretty new to using the Cricut and paper crafting.. I happen to post this little Halloween treat bag on SVG Cuts Facebook wall.. and was told about the contest on THE MESSAGE BOARD so I entered totally not expecting anything at all, but was happy to share because I was so proud that I actually made something that cool from sheets of paper! Who knew? Well, guess what?

Photobucket

Yeah, baby!! I won me a totally spiffy  $10.00 giftcard to svgcuts.com and I am planning on getting this set for sure, HOW CUTE ARE THESE? Not sure what else… I am actually waiting for the next contest to be posted to see if I need to get any new SVG’s ;) Next time I will make the project with all or pretty much all SVG’s from their collections. I had no idea about any contests, etc. when I made those bags and used some cartridges. Just the bag and the ‘fanned’ circle are from them.

So yeah, join the community and enter the next contest! The talent over there is pretty awesome! If anything else, get inspired! It’s a little slow but everyone there is super sweet.. especially the owners, Mary and Leo! And of course, they have some of the cuuutest SVG’s around!

Trick or Treat?

Most definitely TREAT!!

I made this cookie bouquet this morning! I used the No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe (because it’s awesome!)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

I just had to bake some more Halloween cookies! It’s only in a few days away and will surely be missed!

The deets:

Pumpkin basket was 50% off at Michaels! They had a ghost as well, I think? It’s SO cute!

The glittery paper pumpkins were cut from SVG’s from svgcuts.com I didn’t layer them exactly like Mary did but I wanted them super simple looking. They are cute and I love the sparkle paper from the stack I got at Joann’s called ‘Midnight Spell’

To get the cookies to stand up I used foam and cut it to fit tightly inside so it didn’t move everywhere.

And a little tip for making cookie bouquets. Roll your cookies thick! Mine are about 1/2″ and work great! Right after they come out of the oven slide the sticks in gently and be careful not to break them. I put them in about half way. When they are totally cool it will be sturdy. Another thing you can do to make sure they don’t move much is pull the stick out AFTER the cookie cools, put some thick royal icing on the part of the stick that goes inside the cookie and then slide it back it. This will create a little glob of frosting around the hole of the cookie but will keep it in place even better!

You can find cookie sticks by Wilton at Michaels, Joann’s. Walmart, etc.

Then decorate and enjoy! They make a GREAT centerpiece for a Halloween party! If I was actually giving this as a gift I would have added some ribbon and a tag!

Now.. I’m off for some hot cocoa.. and a snack.. a coookie snack! ;) Plus laundry is calling me.. I think. It speaks a language I don’t quite understand, LOL! Blah!

MORE Halloween treat boxes!

Yes, more.. I have been searching high and low for different treat boxes/bags to make for Halloween. This is a set I ran across the other day from myscrapchick.com really cute stuff over there!

I am still new to the Cricut/SVG world and when I opened the cutting files I realized they were all on one page.. so I had to cut my different colored paper to fit and put it on my cutting mat… it was kind of a pain and I would have like it better if they were all separate pages…

Photobucket

I had already cut a few box shapes out so I glued them together while my shapes were cutting. I love this no wrinkle Elmers glue for boxes and bags, It has a large flat textured tip the spreads the glue nicely.

Photobucket

I only made the frankenstein, candy corn and pumpkin. I made the pumpkin look more fall and not Halloweenish. I think I am going to use the pumpkin and a turkey I have in one of my cartridges and make some goodie boxes for place settings at my moms house for Thanksgiving. Put some little candies in them! The set size for these boxes is not very big so I might make them a bit larger next time.

Photobucket

Photobucket

And of course… no crafting time is complete without a venti coffee :) Today’s drug of choice.. A toffee mocha! Mmmm!

Photobucket

I would have preferred two… or three. One never seems like enough! Sure, I might have a belly ache afterwards.. but.. it would be SO worth it ;)

See ya!

Sugar cookies! Recipe and photos of my little monsters!

October starts our holiday baking season! I love to make little cupcakes and cookies with the kiddos! We started this tradition with my mom and stepdad’s bunch about 4 years ago! It’s a little harder to get together with the family since we live 2 hours away now but my mom and brother made it up! (Yes, I have a kid brother.. and although we have 16 years that separate us, he is still super annoying.. just like he should be LOL!)

Here are some pictures.. yes, my kids hair is messy.. They were playing outside earlier that day and it’s a weekend.. so we lay low unless we go somewhere ;) And seems how we typically do projects on the weekends my kids hair will probably be messy in every photo I share for the most part.

Horrible photo quality though! The lighting was awful (dark and cloudy out) and while my camera does pretty great in low light it’s still a bit icky.

Photobucket

LOL! His expression is too funny!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Did you happen to see my chapstick hanging out by the cookies? LOL.. I can not be without my chapstick!

And here is the YUMMY cookie recipe! It’s the NO FAIL SUGAR COOKIES and it’s great! Nice and soft, GREAT flavor (I use almond extract) and they hold their shape well when being baked! make sure you use REAL butter. Try them out! The icing is royal icing made with meringue powder… the recipe comes with it! (Wilton brand). I like royal icing because it hardens enough, but not enough to break your teeth!

The monsters also did cupcakes.. I didn’t take a lot of pictures because it was so dark but I caught this one of Alannah.. does she look like she wants to jump in that frosting or what?

Photobucket

And their finished work! A little messy but SO yummy!

Photobucket

The little pumpkin and bat were created using THESE SVG FILES from svgcuts.com

Until next time!!

Haunted house and cute little treat boxes!

I made this haunted house from the Happy Hauntings cartridge. While it’s cute… I don’t think you could pay me to make another one. I took forever! And when my little monsters want to help glue it together.. it became WORK. I needed a cookie and a cup of coffee to finish it, LOL!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

These were some of my first real projects with my Cricut! I love them! So very cute.. so cute that I actually don’t want to give them away, LOL! I am stingy! I make things with other people in mind and then back out of giving it to them!.. tisk-tisk. My mom came up this past weekend and I made her that little witch hat treat bag I posted a few days ago. I was secretly hoping she would forget it (sorry, mom.. it’s true).. but no, she grabbed it as she headed out the door *sigh*.. ah well! I think it’s because I am so excited about all these little new creations that I want to keep them around to show everyone, lol..

Anyhow.. these are darling! Before I knew what SVG files were I bought Tags, Bags, Boxes and More from eBay (egh!… it’s retired and popular.. not a good combo, lol) and now that I have been schooled on the SVG files and all I could have gotten bags/boxes just as good or better for FREE or a couple bucks (hear me crying?…) Again, svgcuts.com is a little SVG file heaven for me! LOL.. As much as I plug that website you would think I work for them.. wouldn’t that be fun? But.. I have no idea how to make SVG files.. so.. I am useless! Anyone else have some good SVG files blogs/websites to share? I would love to start building up a nice collection.

Oh..yeah.. umm.. you wanna see the little boxes I guess? LOL! (note to myself: STOP RAMBLING!) These were made with TBB&M and my Mini Monsters cartridges! And I used a star shaped puncher for little stars to go on some of them. Adding textured paper really helps as well.. I just used a pack of swiss dot and some linen textured paper.

I decorated all sides so I am showing multiple views of each box.
