Snow Monsters Go Fast – A Layout

*waves* Here I am as promised.. showing you all what I made with the product featured in my ‘What I’m Working With Wednesday’ video! I feel all sorts of accomplished now, lol! There was a moment there when I thought I was going to scrap this layout.. but, I think I pulled it together pretty well.

For this layout I REALLY wanted to push myself to use those darn mists and the mask. I practiced a bit for the look I wanted on some scrap paper.. and to my amazement, I got it ‘right’ on my actual layout! Mist is a bit tricky.. I am learning that different brands spray differently. Some come out clean and spray very well.. some spray more ‘scattered’ (even with clean nozzles). I think I am getting it though.. and I like the look. Not for everything, but I felt the misted arrow mask worked well with this layout. I also knew I wanted a white background with pops of color and chunky rectangles or squares of paper. I am not 100% sold on the placement of the photo, but I had already sewn down the chat bubble and moving the photo anywhere else would look odd.

The title comes right from my little dudes mouth! I was printing his photo and he was talking about his snow monster hat.. He said it makes him go faster on the sled. Then he said, “Snow monsters go fast, huh mama?”... *high five* to the boy for helping his title challenged mama!

So, if you haven’t viewed the video of all the yummy product from the Studio Calico ‘Here & There’ collection, you can view it HERE. I also show some other random bits that coordinate with the collection.

OK, on to the layout!

I just love that picture of my little man! He just got done sledding down a big hill (right in our front yard!) and landed pretty much at my feet.. I was trying to make sure I stopped him from flying through a tree into the neighbors yard, lol.

Used the Studio Calico roller stamp here. Perfect! Added some stitching to a few parts of the layout.

Some scattered embellishments… fun, fun!… or, like the chat bubble says, “SO FUN!”

That’s it! I really hope you all are enjoying the layouts! I definitely feel more ‘at peace’ with making them now.. not so much like a beginner. It’s not as scary as it once was. Now I feel like a more well rounded designer; layouts, cards, altered stuff, etc. ya me! *smiles*

OK, friends.. off with ya! Have a good one…

SVG Cuts’ newest card kit! Plus WINNER from the LYB Giveaway

Guess who’s a newly 30 year old? ME! My birthday was yesterday and I gotta say.. saying “I am 30″ is gonna take some getting use to.

All of a sudden I am noticing all these creases on my forehead.. GAH! I am 30.. not 100!

Today’s blog post is gonan be a quick one. I am sharing this card I made from SVG Cuts’ new Five Minute Cards SVG Kit. They are quick, easy, and eye-catching! I LOVE them! Because really.. sometimes ya just need a cool handmade card I went with the ‘I LIKE YOU’ card.

Of course the inner complicated person in me wanted to jazz up this card even more.. but then it wouldn’t be so ‘five minute’. So, I just added some quick stitching and a couploe stickers to make it ‘mine’.

OK, friends.. time to announce the winner of the Little Yellow Bicycle NATURALS collection winner! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment! I think the Naturals collection is going to be a HUGE hit for LYB!

The winner is… Lana G. She said, “Oh my these are so sweet! I just want to touch them all….. I also will have to wait for my Michaels store…. Just a little slow here in Missouri…. They need someone who follows these great blogs and orders the cool new toys! :)  Thanks for the chance to win! Love your ideas. <3 ”

CONGRATS LANA! I will be emailing you shortly!

Not even 24 hours after my order arrived..

… and I already got started on a project!.. And FINISHED it!

This NEVER happens.. really. (Unless it’s DT work with a deadline). Usually I buy stuff and it sits around until I find it again buried somewhere in my craft room. Not this time, buddy! I saw the new My Mind’s Eye ‘Boy Crazy’ collection pop up on Two Peas and ordered right away! I just LOVE the whole look and feel of this collection. And it has everything my boy loves; rockets, aliens, cars, robots, etc. SO FUN!

Now, thanks to my new Selphy CP 900 (<—– Read my ‘review’ on it!) I can now easily print my photos and they are GREAT quality! It actually makes me WANT to work with photos. All my regular blog readers know this gal doesn’t do the ‘scrapbook’ thing. I really, really think that’s changing now. I think I have said that before.. but this time I mean it, LOL!

I have been a printing maniac trying to get my favorite pics off the computer so I had plenty to choose from. I went with these ‘fishy face’ pics of my son. (Hellooooo baby fever! sheesh!) He was ALWAYS making this face. Always. It’s absolutely darling and of course I had to document it. He STILL does this darn face! I love this little dude!

I mean really.. he needs to just shut up with that cuteness!!! Seriously.. *swoon*

I added several brads and enamel dots. Some stitching, typed journaling, and a few cute felt stickers. Oh yes, and WASHI.. Mmm… Can’t forget a little strip of washi tape! I love the coordinating tape for this collection, but I chose an ‘off brand’ yellow tape for a little more pop of color.

I’m loving how it came out.

And I am LOVING that I am actually USING my stuff! An excuse to buy more?

Me thinks so!

SVG Cuts stamps now available at UNITY!

If ya love stamping.. this post is for you! (and even if you don’t love stamping.. keep reading! I mean.. you’re already here anyways, right?)

My friends at SVG Cuts have teamed up with Unity Stamp Co. to bring you some super cool stamps! This is quite exciting! Why? Because SVG Cuts was actually going to discontinue their stamp line. Waaah! But not anymore!

I always say I am not much of a stamper.

Do you see a pattern here on my blog..?

“I’m not much of a card maker..”

“I’m not much of a scrapbooker”

……… *blink-blink*

“Then what DO you do, woman?!”

I hoard crafty supplies.

.. and cookie cutters. Really. I have probably 150-175 cookie cutters.

Anyhow, even though I am “not much of a stamper”…. I subscribe to two of Unity’s kit clubs. I get the Stamp of the Week (because something about those itty bittys in my mail box weekly just makes me HAPPY!) and then I also get the Kit of the Month. I love the quality of these stamps! The are red rubber stamps mounted on cling foam. Quality!

And to prove what a non-seasoned stamper I am.. I had no idea to ‘season’ your stamps you can rub an eraser over them! What the?.. I thought the stamps stamped cleanly enough at first.. and then after I did the eraser trick I was like, “Marry me, you lovely crisp stamp!”.

Well, it was something liek that. I was quite amused.

So, being on the SVG Cuts team I thought I should show some support and get my stamps inked up! Right now there are only two SVG Cuts sets available.. with more to come! I used the ‘’ sentiment stamp from All You Need Is Love kit! (On sale right now for $10.99!!) and the owl from the January KOTM (So cute!). The tree brances are from Unity ‘Naturally You’ and the hearts are another monthly kit “All You Need…”

Do you see that little ‘jump’ in my stitching?

That’s what happens when a wild beast dog jumps onto your lap when you have the sewing machine going. Egh!

Gives it character I suppose. lol.

Is this owl not the cuuutest? He’s rockin’ those shades! As soon as I got my KOTM I just knew I would (eventually) use him.. He’s great for paper piecing!

The papers are a mix of a few different October Afternoon sets. Brads are October Afternoon Woodland Park.

And while I have you here, SVG Cuts released a NEW kit! This one is sure gonna be a rootin’ tootin’ good time! Check it out! It’s yours FREE this week with a purchase of $9.98 or more with the code FREEGIFT

Get the Happy Trails SVG Kit!

Yeah. That’s a 3D BOOT, folks!

OK, I’m outta here! Have a nice weekend! I’m gonna shine up ‘mah spurs and ride off into the sunset!

I really wish I had a cowskin print vest right now. *sad face*

SVG Cuts is rocking Day 3 of the Fa-BOO-Lous week!

Hey, hey! Welcome to day 3 of my Fa-BOO-Lous Halloween Inspiration week! Are you having fun? I sure am… Have you started on Halloween crafts? Have you been making Halloween stuff since.. oh.. I dunno.. JULY like I practically have been? lol. If so.. you’re my kind of people! New best friends? Me thinks so! We need special jackets!

I have been way too excited about this feature! SVG Cuts has been my paper crafty family pretty much from the second week I started this whole paper crafting thing! They were my very first design team..  I remember following their blog thinking, “If only I could craft like that…” I would enter their challenges hoping I would get on their DT… and here I am, two years later! On their wonderful DT, seeing Mary create her amazing kits every week.. salivating at Leo’s awesome photos and videos and being so proud to be on a DT full of these AMAZINGLY talented women. My friends… My crafty family *hearts fluttering*. Most of you know I flew out to Chicago this past summer and actually stayed with Mary and Leo (owners of SVG Cuts) at their beautiful home. They are some of the coolest people… hopefully they think I am pretty cool, too. Just don’t tell ‘em I tried to kidnap their cat. (LOL JK!)

While I was there I also got to meet the fabulous Thienly and Fleurette who are also on the DT! I had met Corri this past January at Winter CHA (and also saw her in Chicago!)  It really is the coolest thing to meet all these ‘internet friends’ in person.. Like.. “Oh, HI.. so you ARE real!” lol! I wish we could have all met up! What a party that would be!… Especially with me there.. hellllloo! LOL!

So, here I am.. showing some of the newest kits/collections from SVG Cuts with three fellow SVG Cuts designers. Amy, Corri, and Thienly. I am so happy they’ve joined me.. and really, really happy they made great projects! (Why wouldn’t they? lol They rock socks!) A special thank you to the three of them… and an even bigger thank you to Mary and Leo for dealing with my craziness and keeping me around! I can be a bit… odd.

Let’s get this going.. no more mushy crud. No mushy crud allowed during this spooky Fa-BOO-Lous Halloween week! Release the ghosts and zombies and let’s get started!

First up is ME!!! I decided to go a different route with SVG Cuts files and NOT do a paper craft. I was inspired by a fellow (and way too talented) SVG Cuts DT member, Brigit. She recently made some iron on decal bags.. LOVED them. So, I stole her idea and made my own version! When SVG Cuts released the Spooky Cuties collection I about died. I LOVE them. I don’t think I’ve stopped touching them since, LOL! I have a few projects in the works with these little cuties on them and just can’t wait to share!

My project.. TA-DA!!! A Trick or Treat bag! Don’t even try to pretend this is not adorable. It’s stinkin’ adorable!

I took a simple plain bag from State Line Bag Company, and turned it into this little masterpiece! A customized Trick or Treat bag! I added on some orange zig-zag stitching to the edges, a frayed ruffle trim with buttons and some Trendy Twine and then ironed on some decals I printed. The Spooky Cuties SVG Cuts collection actually comes with PRINTABLES! Yes, folks.. buy yourself some iron on decal paper (I used Avery brand) and you can easily make these too!

How cute are those cuties?

So, carrying on with the Spooky Cuties, and me trying to make awesome stuff.. is my next project! This is another fun one and non paper crafty. I always love to give ‘seasonal’ little gifts to my kids. Yes, they are slightly spoiled.. and I am just too fun, so this is what I do :) I got them all sorts of Halloween themed goodies, lots of craft supplies, jammies, books, shirts, etc. and I needed something to put it all in.. or.. umm.. some of it since I went overboard. I picked up this large bucket from the Dollar Tree (so only $1.00!) and I ordered some Silhouette double sided adhesive paper and decided to make my own glitter stickers to decorate it with. I chose the skeleton dude since he would be the easiest to make. I ran out of white glitter so I just used white vinyl for his ‘bones’. The black part is all glittered. I REALLY like how this came out. Super easy to make! Just cut like you would a paper pieced file, peel off the top layer, add glitter, then peel off the backing and adhere to the bucket! It’s really strong adhesive too! Here it is!

So, sooo fun! Here are a few close up shots… and a shot of the whole set up together!

(ignore my hot glue mess, lol)

And ‘the’ set up! Needless to say they were so excited!!! And of course it wouldn’t have been the same without that custom gift basket!

OK, OK.. enough about me! Let’s move on to these amazing guest designers.. My SVG Cuts friends!!! *back flip* Make sure you stop by their blogs.. they are each having their OWN giveaway! Keep reading to see what goodies they’re giving away.. plus see what I am giving away! It’s more ‘fall’ themed and not so Halloweenie. :) YAY!

First up is Amy. She’s such a sweetie.. so fun and so very talented with her collages and scrapbook pages! Amy blogs over at Aim it Up. Stop by and see more of her project, plus she is giving away a giftcard to Michaels craft store!!! So fun! She’s also on FACEBOOK.. stop by and give her a ‘like’.

Amy created this Fa-BOO-Lous Halloween weekly countdown. How creative is this??

Amy said, “I am so excited to be a guest designer for the Fa-Boo-Lous Halloween Inspiration Week! I am on the SVG Cuts DT and love Halloween. I thought it would be fun to create a Halloween Countdown. I started with today’s date 10.3 (4 weeks until Halloween!) and counted down the weeks. I also did a treat holder for the day before and Halloween Night. I started out with a shadowbox and removed the glass. I cut six boxes from SVG Cuts latest kit called Gimme Candy Boxes SVG Kit. I cut them on my Sizzix eclips using Ecal software. I also added some cuts from SVG Cuts Spooky Cuties SVG Collection. I designed the countdown dates in Adobe Illustrator and used the Epiphany Crafts Tool to create them. One stop at Joanns and I loaded it up with lots of goodies. You should of seen my boys when I showed them the countdown – their eyes lit up! “

Wow, right?! Head to her BLOG to see those detailed images and enter for a chance to win that $20 giftcard!

Up next is Corri from Bug Lover Cards! Corri knows how to keep it clean, simple, and classy! She’s the newest member to the SVG Cuts DT and we are excited to have her with us! Well, well.. what did Corri make to share with you all today? A fabulous card and ‘BOO’ gift box (perfect for the Fa-BOO-Lous week, wouldn’t you agree?!)

Corri said, “For my project, I used several files from SVG Cuts and paper and elements from October Afternoon’s Witch  Hazel collection. I used the adorable little ghost from the Spooky Cuties collection and stamped her face with some PKS face parts. “

Corri’s also having a fun giveaway on HER BLOG! Check it out! She’s got a Michaels craft store giftcard up for grabs! You should also swing by her Facebook page and say hello!

And last, but certainly not least.. Thienly from Mod Paperie! She also joined me over on the State Line Canvas Bag post (with  a giveaway, so check it out!). She’s awesome.. she knows it.. you know it. ’nuff said!

Thienly made a DARLING witches hat.. a little shimmer and glimmer goes a long way! I love the look of this!

Stunning! Thienly said, “Glitter and shimmer makes everything look pretty! I was inspired to make a glam version of the Witch Hat Box from Gimme Candy Boxes SVG Kit.  A simple project, easy to make, but an eye-catchy decor that holds yummy treats inside – PERFECT for Halloween parties!

How amazing! And again, ANOTHER giveaway! Head to Thienly’s BLOG to see more details on this project and enter her giftcard giveaway! She’s got one for $10 to SVG Cuts! Also, she’s got a fun Facebook page. Stop by and give her a ‘like’. She’s creepin’ up to 1,000 followers! Goooo Thienly!

State Line Canvas bags… You know you want ‘em!

Who loves a good canvas bag? Who loves a good canvas bag filled with TREATS?.. Uh. ME! I just had to do a little feature with a small side giveaway this week showing you these cool canvas bags from State Line Bag co! They offer a variety of sizes.. which is great! We are women (and maybe a few men are here) and we like variety, right? State Line Bags has canvas bags ranging in sizes from 2.75″ x 4″ to 12″ x 16″.  These are perfect for gift giving! Think holiday Christmas gifts especially! If you have 14 and 1/2 thumbs like me, you probably hate wrapping odd shaped stuff. With these, you can easily stamp on a bag, add a tag, and throw it at the person it’s for. (OK.. throwing might be a bit mean.. but I am feelin’ feisty right now.. so ya’ll better run for cover.. I’m throwing canvas bags around! *whoosh* <—- That was a canvas bag full of chocolate being thrown by your head. I warned you!)

So, to show you the awesomeness of these bags I brought along my craftalicious friend, Thienly from Mod Paperie. (I have been meaning to tell her to call herself ‘Vintage’ Paperie instead.. I think it fits better… lol. Am I right? Of course I am.. And yes, you can hire me for blog naming services. You can pay me in coffee. Venti’s only)

So, let’s get started. Settle yourself down now. I am sure you’re squirming around in your seat because you are just DYING to see some canvas deliciousness.

Don’t those ruffles look adorable? Especially with that frayed edge and black zig-zag stitching! I cut off the drawstring, added black eyelets and some Trendy Twine (Who I will be featuring tomorrow with a GREAT giveaway and awesome guest designers!) to make my bag a little more unique! Then I stamped all over my bag with some fun My Thoughts Exactly stamps; ‘Fright Night Friends’, which you can possibly WIN (see details below). I stamped onto another canvas bag for the ghost, candy corn, and bat and then cut them out and adhered them onto my bag! Thought that was pretty fun looking.

Anyhow, here’s Thienly’s super cute version of the State Line canvas bags. I love her added touches of burlap behind the stamped pieces.

Thienly said, “I knew when I saw these canvas bags, I HAD to add some burlap to it.  These go together so well, and I’ve been loving the way it looks together.  Of course, I had to share my love for Unity Stamp Company – their stamps are perfect for projects like this. Instead of the string that come with the bag, I replaced it with black twine to add to the Halloween feel”

What a perfect little treat bag! Thank you so much, Thienly, for joining me today!  Thienly is also having a giveaway for some of these bags on HER blog! Head on over and leave her some love and enter for a chance to win some! She’s giving away 25 of them! You’ll be set! She’s also got a facebook page.. stop by and say hello! She’s got some serious talent! Seriously. Serrrrriously. (said in a faux drunken slur). You’ll want to stalk her… and smell her hair.

LOL! Gosh.. I am so weird. I was just ‘whining’ to Thienly about how long blog posts take and I am sooo tired.. well duh. They take so long because I ramble on about throwing canvas bags at people and being a creepy hair smelling stalker. Jeez. Someone needs a therapist.

Now for my fun little giveaway! Don’t forget I have SEVERAL giveaways happening right now so check the main blog page! There’s also a fun challenge which includes a prize.

So here’s what’s up for grabs in this post:

Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win:

Day 2 of the Fa-BOO-Lous Inspiration week!

Heeeey there! It’s day two of my Fa-BOO-Lous Halloween week and I’ve got some amazing projects to share today! Some of my fellow Carta Bella design team members joined me in showing off Carta Bella’s AMAZING All Hallows’ Eve collection! I just love, love, LOVE this collection and I’m so happy these wonderful designers joined me today!
Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s post along with the Ghostess with the Mostess design challenge! There’s a fun prize up for grabs along with a freebie SVG file from Designs on Cloud 9 if you decide to use it! There’s also a discount code from a wonderful sponsor, My Thoughts Exactly. Use code MTELUVHLCW for 15% off your stamp order! Yay!
Ok, let’s get this party started! You’re gonna just love these projects and I hope they get your wheels turning and get you inspired for some Halloween crafting. Come on now, GET EXCITED!!!
First up is yours truly! Ok.. Soooo… I kinda cheated here. This project was shared on the Carta Bella blog the other day. But hey, if you didn’t see it then just pretend I didn’t say that, lol! I created some spooktacular treat envelopes with the string tie envelope file from Lori Whitlock. I edited the file by adding on an oval shape to create a window so you can see the treats inside!

Carta Bella All Hallow's Eve Halloween treat bags -
On the back I used some brads and wire to close it. Thought this was a bit different than just string or twine. Add on some embellishments and you’re done!

See the bling? Those ‘crystals’? I added those with my Imaginisce irock tool. One of my favorite tools to add some ‘glam’ to Halloween projects.. And YOU could win one in todays prize! Keep on reading and then leave a comment to enter!
Now for my fabulous guest designers! Please visit each of their blogs and see just how amazing they are! I feel honored to be designing with them on the Carta Bella team!
First up is Jan. I’m also on the Sizzix DT with her, and just ADORE her work. She’s quite the designer, for sure! Check out the beautiful mask she made. Jaw dropping gorgeous! I want if for my own house! LOL.. No really. Jan, you know you want to send it to me! I can trade you a kid!

Jan said, “I purchased a paper mache mask from Michael’s and covered it with All Hallow’s Eve.  Made some flowers, (all Sizzix of course!) paper branches, added a few spiders, feathers, bling and a stick.” Please take a moment to stop by Jan’s blog and say hello! PLUS she’s also giving away a Carta Bella kit (Alphabet Junction)!

Is that anything other than amazing?.. really! *swoon*

Next up is the always fabulous Patricia! Everything she makes is amazing! (To only have that touch, right?!) She created this super fun coffin box using a cutting file designed by Lori Whitlock. I just LOVE the spooky surprise once you open the coffin!

Patricia says, “This little coffin design by Lori Whitlock from the Silhouette Studio store was too irresistible to pass up.  I removed the cross from the front of the coffin only because I wanted to decorate the front with the die cut spider web, stickers, tag, and twine.  I was going for the “don’t open this” kind of feel to it.  For the inside, I put baby powder on the back of the skeleton sticker, and attached him to a curled up piece of wire, so he kind of “floats.”  I have this along with the tree and skeleton votives on my mantle…Carta Bella All Hallow’s Eve is perfect for adding Halloween decor to your home.”

Please stop by Patricia’s blog, leave some love and you’ve got to browse around and see more of her work! You’ll be glad you did!

So cool! Open it up and what do you find?..

Love that Carta Bella skeleton sticker! Totally fun, right?..

Moving on to ANOTHER super amazing designer, Pam. I mean really.. how am I even on the same DT as these ladies?

Pam said, “A lot of Halloween collections have purple and green in them, which wouldn’t match my photo, so when I saw the neutral color palette of All Hallow’s Eve, I knew it would be perfect for this photo of my little guy from last Halloween. I added the chipboard banner which featured words such as creepy, spooky, etc. but I felt like there was too much text on the page, so I covered up the words with little strips of patterned paper and stitched down the middle of them!”  If you could take the time to stop by Pam’s blog and say hello and check out the rest fo her work, that would be awesome!

Pam has created a DARLING layout! And the title is perfect, “So cute, it’s scary!”.. How adorable is this picture?

I mean, wouldn’t YOU give that cute puppy extra candy? Ooof course! (Hey, that’s a great idea! Cute kids in super cute costumes = more candy.. and what does that mean? More chances of getting chocolate for mom to steal.. right? Riiiight?..)

So, I’ve shown you treats, decor, a layout.. time for a CARD!

This card was made by.. yet again.. another Fa-BOO-Lous designer from the Carta Bella team! Man, we are workin’ the All Hallow’s Eve over here, aren’t we? This totally cool card featuring my favorite skeleton sticker was designed by Jen! Say hello to Jen and visit her blog. You better believe she’s got some amazing projects there!

Jen said, “Carta Bella collections make it super easy to create the perfect holiday card! Everything coordinates so seamlessly together. I started this card by stitching down some strips of patterned paper, then added a ribbon. A few chipboard embellishments, stickers and a brad and voila! A perfectly spooky Halloween card with the All Hallow’s Eve line.”

Who wouldn’t love to receive that card?

Last, but certainly not least, is the sweet and talented Natasja! She’s super talented and she has created this awesome altered embroidery hoop (A project on my ‘to-do’ list!). How creative is this? She didn’t skip a beat and it’s full of little details! Love the pop of green here. Be sure to head on over to HER BLOG, she’s having a little giveaway as well! WHOO HOO!!

Natasja said, “I created this piece using a vintage embroidery ring as a base filled with a piece of patterned paper. I used some green fabric which gives a lot of dimension while layering all the fun stickers and cardstock stickers that come with the All Hallow’s Eve line. Hang a piece like this in your hall and it will be a fun welcome during Halloween….or it can be a fun little gift!”

How BOO-tiful!

Thank you ladies for joining me! I REALLY appreciate it!

Sweet Stamp Shop – Guest Designer!

It’s Sunday and I am ready to do some crafting, but first I thought I would share this fun card with you all! I was a guest designer this past week at Sweet Stamp Shop! I was sent this super adorable ‘Out in Space’ set to use and it was perfect! I pulled out some of my ‘oldie but goodie’ October Afternoon ‘Rocket Age’ paper and got to work! This is a pretty simple card, but oh sooo cute! I love the little alien guy! Since I’ve been naming things on my projects lately, we will just call him ‘Merp’.. ‘Merp, Merp, Merp, Meeeeerp…” Sounds like an alien noise, right? lol.. Maybe it just sounds alien-ish in my head.

Meet, Merp! He is waiting for the rocket ship to land and drop off some humans to have for dinner.. or.. eh.. to have dinner with. (Gotta remember this is a family friendly blog..They will be no consumption of humans here!)

Cute? Of course it is with those ‘sweet’ stamps!

The most simple things excite me.. and with this card it’s the coiled wire with the rocket on it! Yep.. I’ve coiled wire plenty of times… and double yep.. I’ve stuck things on the end of the coiled wires. And Yeppers.. I am acting like it’s new and exciting. LOL..

For the stars I used my trusty ol’ Sizzix eclips with the eCal shapes library. I never realized how often that little shapes library has come in handy for me until I started designing for Sizzix.. lol. Love it!

My card base it 4×6 and I csized the top layer at 3.50 x 5.50 and added random stars all over like so:

I made sure I kept some space in the center to add in my stamps.. then clicked ‘cut!’ Super easy! I added in some ink, orange machine stitching and of course stamped images!

You could also use the small star from the Sizzix star framelits to get the same effect.

And while I have you here I thought I would share some new awesome twine from Trendy Twine! I about died when I saw the new colors.. me being a Halloweenie girl and all! I love the colors mixed with black! These are going to be PERFECT to use with all my treat bags I gotta make! There’s always new yummy colors to see, so stop by their Facebook page and give them a ‘Like’ :) (It would be nice to mention I sent ya if you) I have a fun Halloween inspiration week with some paper projects and DIY stuff coming up, and I will be giving away some of this fabulous twine.. oh, yeah!

OK.. I think that’s all for today! I have to choose the winner tomorrow from the fabulous Echo Park blog hop (did you get your entry in? You have a few more hours!).

I’m off to get crafty! Not sure what I am going to make just yet. Maybe something fall-ish. I have some gorgeous October Afternoon papers here I want to dive into.. Hmmm..

Happy Friday!

Friday’s here! Yay!

Well, ‘Yay’ for most of ya. My friday’s are not very exciting. It’s the middle of my hubby’s work week so it never feels like a weekend to me. It just means not as many people on Facebook, lol!

Some of you might have noticed on Echo Park’s Facebook page that they swapped out the timeline banner… They added in a cute little layout with a darling little girl on it using the ‘So Happy Together’ collection. Yeah, that’s mine (the layout and the cute kiddo! lol) And for those of you who are not on Facebook, I am here to share it with you all! I really like how it came out! Nothing Earth shattering, but it’s ‘me’ and I like it! That’s one of my favorite pictures of my daughter, Alannah. She’s wearing a dress that I made for her back when I use to sew…

The color of her photograph is wonky for some reason.. looks much better in person.

I used my Sizzix eclips to cut hearts out of some of the hexagons.. totally cute!

I added in some random stitching, of course.. and a pleated trim… of course. lol.

To create the perfectly sized hexagons, I just used my eCal basic shapes library and sized them how I wanted. :) And for some of them I layered a heart shape over it.

This collection is amazing to work with! The colors just make me ‘happy’. I have done some other random cards and such with it, too.. Can’t share everything just yet!

Anyhow, while I have your attention, I wanted to share this cute and SIMPLE back to school gift set! You can find it no the Echo Park blog! (And NO, the bingo chips are not part of the ‘gift’ I was using it as a prop, lol)

Thanks for stopping by! I have a fun filed August with TONS of new releases from Echo Park to play with! I can not WAIT! I was lucky enough to see everything in person at CHA and it’s quite amazing! Every last bit of it! And speaking of CHA.. I am STILL trying to simmer down after my Chicago trip. It was SO much fun! I have lots of photos to share.. eventually. LOL! I must get back in my crafty groove soon!

Baby, you’re a fiiiirework!

‘Come on let your colors buuuuurst’

Yeah.. I actually do not like that song… at.all.. but it was a fitting title for this project!

**If you are looking for the Echo Park blog hop – IT IS HERE!*

I was not feeling good last night, couldn’t sleep, so I got up and did some crafting.. (Yeah, not many people actually get up and DO things when not feeling well.. I know.. I’m a special kind of freak) I decided to use what was already laying on my craft table, some patriotic papers! And lucky me, SVG Cuts just came out with their latest Stars and Stripes kit! I LOVE it! That little firecracker box was calling my name! “Taaaamara… come plaaaay wiiiith meeee”.. Creepy little firecracker! It’s like, at least buy me dinner first before coming on to me like that, right?…

So, at midnight I was up making a firecracker box. I finished that, and decided to make a little treat bag to go with it. These are both fairly simple to do. The firecracker goes together very easily! Remember, it was late night feeling icky crafting.. so my creative juices were not flowing as well as they usually do, They were more like, trickling out.. LOL! I do LOVE the set though! So fun! *ka-booom!* I changed up a few things to make it my ‘own’. I love taking SVG Cuts files and using the boxes, cards, etc. as a ‘base’ and doing my own thing from there. *smiles*

Here’s my firecracker gift set! And yes.. I think I’ve come to realize that if I make a 4th of July themed project; it will most likely have wire and stars sticking out of it, lol..

And now the bag..

What do you think? Does it make you want to burst?..

Please don’t. That would be quite the mess. I don’t like messes….. unless it involves chocolate.

Here’s some design tips!

  • Firecracker cutting file from SVG Cuts‘Stars and Stripes’ SVG Kit! - Mine is sized to 8.5″ wide. I would have left it full sized, but my papers I wanted to use were trimmed a bit and the files wouldn’t fit.
  • Papers.. The deliciously awesome Pebbles ‘Let Freedom Ring’ I love it!
  • The star tin pin is from We R memory Keepers
  • The 3D star was created from THIS tutorial I have posted. Very easy to do!
  • I used dark brown wire for the firework.
  • Unity star stamps from the current KOTM.
  • The bag is from Whiskar Graphics
  • Everything was cut using my awesome Sizzix eclips with eCal software!
  • And of course all my usual inking, stitching, etc.

Alrighty crafty friends.. off you go! Thanks for stopping by!
