Ooooh how I love this collection! Crate Paper’s ‘DIY Shop’ <—- Go on.. just LOOK at it all! So pretty!
I immediately ordered from Two Peas and was so excited when my order arrived the other day. So, I took some time for me today and made a layout.
This is ‘totally’ Alannah when she was 4-5yrs old. To get her smiling for pics was work…So, most pictures of her have this lovely “I don’t have time for this” expression.
As you can see she is an expert making that face. She is grumpy and adorable at the same time! Kinda like ‘grumpy cat’. Don’t know who grumpy cat is?… you.must.google.noooooow. Seriously. I just die everytime I see that cat, lol! SO CUTE!
I did a bit of clustering of embellishments and layering. I used brads from various companies and those fantastic stick pins are from Little Yellow Bicycle’s ‘Naturals’ collection (so are those cork alphas!)
I also did something I swore I would NEVER do. Ever. Mind you.. I lie to myself a lot, lol. “No, Tamara.. a half a cake is only like.. 5 calories. You burn more calories to chew it…”…. See. Lies.
Needless to say I kinda cringed when I started dripping that blank ‘ink’ onto my layout. How dumb is it that I was trying not to ‘mess up”.. Umm.. Hello, doofus. You are purposely dripping black crap onto your layout.. there’s no ‘not’ messing it up.
I am still trying to figure out if I like it or not. I did want some more ‘heavy’ color on the layout so black made sense to pull in the few touches of black around the photo.. but. Hmmm. Thoughts? Be honest.. I will try not to fling ink on you if you offend me.
… but I WILL slash your tires.
LOL.. I am messin’.. I’d never slash someone’s car tires.
Your bicycles better watch out though…
*psycho*
Anyhoot, that’s it! I hope you all have a super awesome weekend!

Love this collection too. So many fun papers in it. I am a perfectionist so but I love the splattery/ink drop look. I find myself trying to make my splatters totally perfect. CRAZY! I really do like the look of yours though. You are right that the black was a good color to bring in. So glad you are finding your way with layouts… more eye candy for me.
This is absolutely gorgeous!!
Gorgeous perfection! And yes, the ink drops totally work. Amazing work!
I like the ink drops. They go with the overall look of the page. Want to see someone mess up the look? Wait until I try that technique!
Absolutely love it!
I am an ink drop fanatic!!! I even add two or three (maybe even four) ink colours at once. I suck the big one at misting, I call them “mist”akes but I’ve mastered the ink drop technique. My hint is unscrew the cap and flick the wand at the page like you are Harry Potter casting an Expelliarmus spell or something, reload your ink wand and repeat!
That is exactly what I did! Although I just ordered an ink dropper thingy.. lol
Wish I could do ink drops like that!
I can totally relate when it comes to splashing ink all over a layout!! It’s frightening!! But i always, well almost always, love the end result. Your layout is gorgeous!! Ink and all!
I love the photo! So funny that they have so much attitude and that you can scrap about it! She should consider being a model – that’s the look they go for!
The ink splatters look great, and I’m not just saying that for the sake of my bike tires…It’s good to break a few of your own rules every once in a while!
Thanks so much for sharing!
Ha! Well that look is no more.. now she gets cheesy or looks half asleep, lol.
I ADORE this line ! It’s on my WANT list. Your LO is adorable too. I’m going to have to borrow some of my daughters india ink and give this a try.
Normally I don’t like the splotchy drop look but for this layout it is perfect. Those black dots pull it all together. Great job on your layout.!
I think your layout is gorgeous and the black ink is perfectly placed and looks great. I’d really like to know, is there anything that you can’t do? Always love your creations!!
Thanks for the inspiration.
xoxo, Christine
Wow…simply beautiful! I can’t seem to figure out the whole ink/spray trend myself (too worried to ‘mess’ up my pages, I guess
but I think it totally works for your page…although it would still be gorgeous without it too! Love all your clusters…and what a great photo!
Cute! I wish I had the patience to do this.
