Hey all! I am barely alive over here.. it’s been a long week for me and I am HAPPY to see it end. Thankfully I’ve been able to craft a bit, which helps me relax.. (unless it’s a stressful layout sketch.. more on that later!).

I got an order in from Two Peas the other day (And OMG, I placed FIVE orders at Two Peas in February! Ack!) and it had some goooorgeous Prima ‘Songbird’ in it. Am I a loser because I had no idea Prima even manufactured paper? I thought they just did flowers and such.. *face-palm*.

I drooled over it for two days and of course, had to dig into it this morning! I just made a simple card, I don’t have time to ‘waste’ right now (dishes and laundry are calling.. as usual), so I wanted to get it done quick. Of course I could have cleaned up first and THEN spent more time crafting today, but.. that’s not fun, lol!  It’s so silly how when new product comes in I HAVE to touch it and keep it out in the open in my craft area so I can give it the ‘eye’ several times a day and let it ‘speak’ to me. I am sure many of us crafty type do that though. I can honestly say when I was a punk 16 year old, I would have NEVER in a million years thought paper would be my ‘thing’ and make me so happy.. Weird how life changes. I use to not really want kids and be a mortitian when I got older (no, really!.. and no, I wasn’t some weird depressed ‘goth’ type person).. and now I am a ‘professional’ paper crafter and have three kids!

Anyhow, before I go into my life story here, I will show you my card! I also have a little tutorial at the end of the post to show you how to make the 3D star, since I had a few requests on how I made it on my ‘Make a Wish’ project.

I added in random stitching.. I need to buy more thread colors though… I didn’t have anything that matched besides ivory.

I hope you like it! I don’t care what everyone else thinks, but YOU.. your opinion matters.. lol.

Here’s how I made the snazzy little star! Cut your star the size you want. Once it’s ‘popped up’ it will be about 1/2″ smaller.

Photobucket

  • 1). Scor the star at every point, all the way down.
  • 2). Basically a continued picture of step #1.. lol
  • 3). Fold on the scor lines to ‘soften’ a bit. Then, fold the ‘short’ score lines down, and the longer scor lines with the star points folded up.
  • 4). This is what it will look like finished.
  • 5). To glue them down, turn it over and run glue (I like hot glue) right along the inside edge.. kinda sloppy and gloopy so it will drip a bit. Turn it right side up and put onto your card, etc. The glue will run down a bit and get it to stick.

Awesomeness, right?! I didn’t ‘make’ this up.. but I can not remember where I saw a tutorial at. So whoever made up the 3D star ages ago.. kudos to you! *thumbs up*

Alrighty.. I am outta here! I have so many projects in the works.. new month.. new DT work!

Oh yeah! I forgot to blab about my ‘stressful’ layout sketch that I mentioned earlier. OK, seriously.. this almost gave me an aneurysm! My assignment for Pink Paislee was to make a layout based on a sketch. I don’t think the DT coordinator knew I’ve only done ONE layout.. ONE.. that took me HOURS LOL! But, I didn’t whine about it, I mean.. I’m on a DT for a paper manufacturer, it’d be a joke if I couldn’t scrapbook, lol! Plus, I like to think I’m a ‘go getter’ type and just DO IT.. Hmmm…  So, I sucked it up and well.. apparently I can NOT work with sketches. I don’t like to be ‘told’ how to do something, and while at first I thought it would be helpful.. it wasn’t. Maybe it will get easier as I go. But I found myself trying to ‘break the rules’ and go off the sketch a bit.. I did, but just a ‘lil bit. Not enough to get a hand slap! LOL! I think it came out good though! So.. yay me?! We will see what YOU all think! It will be in the Pink Paislee newsletter… so make sure you’re subscribed! So, tell me.. if you scrapbook, do sketches help you? Or maybe I am just a ‘mess’ and can’t work with them? I remember when I posted on 2Peas asking how people scrapbook (Sounds like a ridiculous question, but I just couldn’t seem to do it) and SO many said look at sketches. Maybe I am missing something here?.. I mean, I draw up my own ‘sketches’ for pretty much any ‘big’ project I make.. so this shouldn’t have been any different. I guess I just like to be difficult! lol.

See ya!

I love this card. That 3d star really makes it. I may just have to borrow some of the ideas on this card. Have fun crafting in this new month.

This is soo pretty! LOVE the star on the card. My dad makes them all the time, why didn’t I think of it to put it on a card? I love the papers that you used… I wanted them today, but was sold out! Can you believe that? My scrapbook store needs to do a better job on restocking! The random stitching is really cute, too – when I try to random stitch, it never looks right… it’s actually harder than trying to do a straight stitch! As for the layout – I’m sure it’s beautiful – can’t wait to see!
