Echo Park Happy Go Lucky – Photo Freedom Pages

Whoa. It’s been awhile, huh?

I’ve been busy with life so I haven’t been crafting much at all. But I am back at it now and will have a couple blog posts this week.. starting with this one!

I used the Echo Park Happy Go Lucky Photo Freedom kit for these two pages. I kept this clean and simple and just focused on the pictures. I mean, the whole concept with this style of ‘scrapbooking’ is to be quick and easy, right?… So here’s some quick and easy for ya!

We had a nice little day taking some photos of her in the dress I made.. and as you see, I had to make her American Girl doll one as well.

The butterfly wings pop up for some dimension. Really cute cuts.. I found them in the Silhouette store.

Here’s page #2. My favorite part is how I split the balloons sticker betwen two pockets.

And yes.. I will admit she looks kinda scary in the bottom right photo, lol.. But that was her.. gummy wide grin, lol. Grimlin style.

This page has hidden journaliing. I was done with the page and was like, “Crap! I didn’t add any journaling..” lol. So ‘hidden’ worked well for this.

Isn’ this PF theme beautiful though? I LOVE it. I think it’s my favorite PF theme so far.

And while you’re here I thought I’d share what’s coming to me VERY soon.. which means you’ll soon be able to get the, too.. Look at this yumminess.

There’s HAPPY CAMPER. I have project ideas spewing outta my brain with this one.. CAN’T WAIT!

There’s also the FANTASTIC HERE & NOW. OMG, peeps.. this is GORGEOUS!!! Can not WAIT to work with this. I am gonna use the crazy outta this!

The colors.. I mean REALLY.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to my DT box (when aren’t I?) and creating some projects to inspire you all (hopefully?..). Which of these two if YOUR favorite?

Alrighty, friends.. off ya go. See you again soon.. Sorry to be MIA for a bit. I have a few more goodies to share so check back!

OH!.. hold up!.. Who uses BLOG LOVIN’ to follow your favorite blogs? Please follow ME!  Follow my blog with Bloglovin

OK.. I will allow you to depart from my blog now *smiles*

It’s a booooat!

Ahoy, crafty friends! Anyone out there enjoying the lovely weather? I have seen some photos of people with snow, so.. don’t start throwing snowballs at me if you’re one of the snowy places, but we’ve been having picture perfect spring weather here! I am loving it! Time for a spray tan so I don’t hurt peoples eyes with the pasty whiteness that grows below my waistline that I call ‘legs’.

Anyhow, the Echo Park team has been working on projects with the new ‘A Perfect Summer’ collection designed by Lori Whitlock.. and it is FAB! Totally gets me in the summertime mood… and craving a margarita. Mmm. I just finished up this totally awesome boat gift box.. This is made with the latest SVG Cuts kit! You can get this set FREE with the code FREEGIFT with your purchase of $9.98 or more! CHECK IT OUT and make your own boat!

So, slap on some sunscreen and a life vest (you’ll need it if I’m captain! lol) and come along on a little boat ride… it’s a row boat..  no fancy speed boats over here, lol.

I want at least 20 of those beach ball brads. SO CUTE!

Anchors are everywhere right now.. and as most things I talk about.. I’m loving them! I need one for my bathroom!…. and for that body I have in the closet.

What….?

I meant like.. a faux anchor tattoo or something…

This project will sit happily in my craft room to be admired by all who enter it… *back pats*.

OK, I have a child to go pick up from the bus stop.. but before I go, another back pat for me because I’m featured at Two Peas today! I am always shocked and surprised when this happens. I see my projects up there and I’m all like, “Who dis crazy cat that copied me.. oh, hell naw!”.. then I realize it’s MINE!

LOL….

Pretty cool, pretty.darn.cool. I also just saw it in their newsletter… coolness to the max, baby!

Go on.. get in line for autographs. Bring your own Sharpie.

OK, see ya’s later!

Friday Favorites

Hey all! Welcome to my first Friday Favorites post! This will be a bi-weekly post every Friday showing you some of my current favorites! I even made a cute frame/graphic for it! Gold star sticker for me and my snazzy-ness.

Let’s see what I picked out! (totally typed ‘licked out’ at first, lol.)

  • 1). Noteworthy 12X12 Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm Paper - WHY? Hello awesome colors, prints, etc. I think this is just a gorgeous piece of paper! The entire collection is fantastic, but this pattern really stands out to me!
  • 2). Road Trip Icons – Chic Tags WHY? The travel theme is fantastic, colors are great.. love the muted tones! Graphics are super cute! Great for cards, scrapbooking and ‘project Life’ type work!
  • 3). Charcoal Sketchbook Snippets Printed Chipboard Thickers WHY? I just like the ‘sketchy’ look of these. Think they would go well with a LOT of lines! I picked up three packs myself! One to use, one to hoard, and one to lose in my mess of a craft room.
  • 4). Doodlebug Ditto Dots Washi Tape WHY? Color, color, and more COLOR! Throw some dots in the mix and it can’t get much better. Unless it came with coffee… and chocolate… and a cute persian kitten.
  • 5). Fiskars Stamp Press WHY? I recently discovered this and I am not sure how I stamped without one before… oh, that’s right. I did stamp just fine.. just looked like a toddler did it.. This helps with using multiple cling stamps at once and really helps me get  nice even pressure. You need this if you stamp!
  • 6). EP Happy Go lucky WHY? The color palette alone is drop dead gorgeous! And the element stickers are rockin’. Great for spring! *high five* (Look for an upcoming DT project from me with this collection!)

So, how’s that for eye-candy?… Do you like the idea of the ‘Friday Favorites’ post?… I do. What are YOUR favorite things out right now? Link ‘em up.. I might miss something awesome out there..

Have a great weekend!

A chick and a winner!

That blog title Sounds like a weird children’s book.. lol

So, I have a quick blog post today to announce the winner of the Echo Park kit from the blog hop! As always, we had a great turn-out and we are so glad you all joined us this month! I also have a cute ‘one piece’ chick box to share!

First up.. the box. Because it’s so darn cute! This little guy was created with SVG Cuts’ new kit of the week, ‘Egg Hunt’. This is this weeks FREE GIFT with your purchase of $9.98 or more. Use offer code FREEGIFT at checkout. GET IT HERE! Includes a lifetime warranty of happiness and the satisfaction of knowing you can always win over your friends and family with your amazing craft skills thanks to SVG Cuts… and the dirty looks from the other ‘room moms’ because you’re more awesome than they are is an added bonus!

Now that I’ve thrown my sales pitch at you.. here’s the little chick. His name is Gus.

Gus does’t normally have a bow on him… or feet (which I added from THIS kit) He’s cute without the bow.. BUT.. put one on him and shy little Gus quickly turns into overly confident ‘Gustavo’..

Jeez.. please excuse Gustavo.

Ya put a bow-tie on a chick and he gets all impudent ‘n stuff.

This little guy..

“What’s that, Gus?.. er.. ‘Gustavo’ ”…

“You’re not a little guy?…

“You’ll peck my eyes out!?”

Um.. Sooo.. this big ‘ol tough guy with feathers of steel was created with Doodlebug Designs goodies! I used the orange and yellow ‘petite prints’ basics. The black mini brads were perfect sized ‘eyes’. The bow-tie is a FREE FILE and cut with a blue polka dot pattern from ‘Hello Spring’. Even the twine for his little fluff is from Doodlebug!

“Hush, Gustavo!.. Be glad I didn’t give you a comb-over!….. perhaps a mullet?..”

In case you didn’t hear Gustavo, he was asking why I didn’t give him a Justin Beiber hairstyle. ‘Gustavo Fever’ just doesn’t have the same ring to it.

OK.. enough with that chicken nugget!!

“You heard what I said, GUS!… that’s right, NUGGET”

Here we are, another round of a fabulous design team blog hop with the Carta Bella girls! I hope you’ve been inspired and have loved the projects you’ve seen so far!

Today I have a vacation photo box to share. This was super quick and fun to create. I used the AMAZING ‘Well Traveled’ collection for this. This collection has got to be one of the best travel lines I’ve seen! I love the colors and vintage feel to the graphics. To create this I used a Lori Whitlock cutting file which you can find HERE.

Purty darn cool! And totally useful! You can make several ‘themes’ to store extra photos that may not make it to scrapbook albums and such. Perfect!

I am pretty much in love with this camera die cut. I got the shape in the Silhouette store. Added the ‘New York’ sticker with an Epiphany Crafts epoxy over it to create a ‘lens’. Then I added on some tiny brads and gray cord to make a camera strap. Um, yeah. Hello awesome idea! So happy to have met you!  You should come around more often!

*high five* for scrumptious embellies! I am so into brads right now. I think I might just start calling my husband Brad. Yeah. That’ll work.

Did’ja know Carta Bella’s ‘Well Traveled’ collection has WASHI TAPE! I added a little taste of it here and there to my box. Those cool roller stamps (arrows and cameras) are from Glitz Design. Really neat and I am glad I snagged them!

Alrighty, now for my BONUS giveaway. I am giving away a Well Traveled 6×6 paper pad, layered stickers, AND a pack of three washi tapes! I will chose a winner from my blog comments AND Facebook page. First up, the Photo Freedom Volume 1 pages. I REALLY like this PF collection! The colors are very easy to work with.
This one shows one of our many fun outdoor summer evenings! We love hanging out grillings and letting the kids run through the sprinklers!
The next Photo Freedom page is a simple page all about DISNEY! This was our Disney trip last spring! Awww.. makes me want to go back! I used the tall 6×12 pocket to show off several mini photos. (MINNIE photos?.. lol)
Next up are two very simple cards! One with the gorgeous Sweet Girl collection and the other is with All About A Boy! Both are FABULOUS to work with! I made some AWESOME projects with these collections (if I do say so myself..) that you’ll all see soon in upcoming blog posts, PDF project downloads and idea books for Echo Park! So here’s the cute cards!
The first one is an ‘I Love You Sweet Girl’ card. A quick card for a special little girl!

SVG Cuts’ newest card kit! Plus WINNER from the LYB Giveaway

Guess who’s a newly 30 year old? ME! My birthday was yesterday and I gotta say.. saying “I am 30″ is gonna take some getting use to.

All of a sudden I am noticing all these creases on my forehead.. GAH! I am 30.. not 100!

Today’s blog post is gonan be a quick one. I am sharing this card I made from SVG Cuts’ new Five Minute Cards SVG Kit. They are quick, easy, and eye-catching! I LOVE them! Because really.. sometimes ya just need a cool handmade card right.now. I went with the ‘I LIKE YOU’ card.

Of course the inner complicated person in me wanted to jazz up this card even more.. but then it wouldn’t be so ‘five minute’. So, I just added some quick stitching and a couploe stickers to make it ‘mine’.

OK, friends.. time to announce the winner of the Little Yellow Bicycle NATURALS collection winner! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment! I think the Naturals collection is going to be a HUGE hit for LYB!

Echo Park ‘SCOOT’ Birthday Truck

I have been so excited to share this project using Echo Park’s SCOOT collection!

I created this back for EP’s booth at winter CHA… It’s really hard for me to not share things right away! Anyone else like that?

Scoot is such an amazing boys collection! I was SO inspired by the cute papers and stickers. I thought a cute birthday boy centerpiece would be fantastic.. but what shall I make?

Of course I fall back to my trusty SVG Cuts files! The Ryan’s Play Date SVG Kit has a perfectly adorable little truck.. and then my birthday boy truck was born! (After a rough 1.5hrs of labor.. pain med free, too!.. LOL!)

So, here it is.. vroom-vroooom!

  • DESIGN NOTE: Cut the SVG Cuts truck files AS SIZED. I added a button over each wheel and little star stickers on the headlights. You can also use acetate for the windows so they are clear!

CUTE, CUUUUTE! Seriously. What little boy wouldn’t LOVE this?!

I added some gumballs in the back.. The back of the truck is perfect for little treats.

I wanted to jazz it up even more, so I added a rosette onto a dowel and adhered it inside the truck. Added a touch of twine, buttons, ‘flying’ plane, and some more stickers..  The perfect finishing touch!

When I was working on this project I thought of all the cute party decor you could make! Hats, cupcake wrappers, etc. You could get the digital collection and print away all the papers you’d need! I seriously love how Echo Park papers are just SO inspiring to me.

Before I let you go, I wanted to invite you to join the Echo Park design team next Monday, FEB 18TH! The DT will be showing off some fun projects with the latest Echo Park collections! Hope you’ll join us!

Have a great weekend! My birthday is tomorrow so my weekend should be FUN! I am turning 30.. eeek! THIRTY!

I’m on a roll!

Are you sick of the layouts yet? lol. I am on a mission to make three this week. Practice makes perfect, right?..

Today I have a layout to share featuring my oldest daughter, Autumn. I actually got a little sad making this one. She’s been living with her dad and step mom since last summer and I sure miss her face around here every day. She is a very dramatic and ’unique’ child who can be more than a handful at times and she may make me wanna jump on the crazy train within an hour of her being here, but it drives me nuts when she’s away! I feel so guilty that she’s always missing so much around here.. I mentioned in a post recently that I postponed our little ‘love party’ for the kids since hubby was sick and she wasn’t here.. well now she won’t be here THIS weekend either and we will have to do it without her. Her dad and step mom are going to visit some family that she doesn’t see too often, so I sucked it up and gave her permission to go along with them. *sigh*. I usually don’t share too much ‘personal’ stuff here.. but this split family stuff is for the birds! Seriously. I TRY not to be selfish when it comes to my feelings, but it hurts to be pushed aside for another weekend so she can do something else… especially when I really wanted her here for our little party. It bums me out to think that I might do a Photo Freedom page or layout about our little party and her cute little face won’t be in the photos. *pouts*

Now I see why they say scrapbooking is an emotional hobby. I eat my emotions.. and I felt like shoving a box of thin mints down my throat. Thankfully, I don’t have any crap food laying around… so I did the next best thing… drank coffee and made a cute little layout.

I used Echo Park Paper ‘For the Record 2′. I used a mix of brads and a little touch of flair. This layout was suppose to have journaling… journaling that was to be printed.. and welp, wouldn’t ya know my wonderful luck.. my printer won’t ‘feed’ the paper in anymore. I JUST bought this printer. This is the same thing that happened to my last printer. Grrr.. so irritating! Guess I will be calling Canon tomorrow. I do like it without journaling though!

I LOVE these photos of my daughter. She still has some baby face chub going on here.. which is now long gone.

THE DESIGN:

I notice I like to be ‘matchy matchy’ as much as possible. If the photos do not match the paper a bit, then I process them to black and white. The FTR2 collection had the PERFECT shades of blue with touches of black to match her dress and denim jacket. I toned down the colors of everything but the clothing to bring in the softer creams and browns in the other papers. She’s very pale so I think this all pulled together nicely. I used several brads, stickers, and chipboard to pull it all together. I created a sense of ‘movement’ with the flowers and doilies going down the right side of the layout. I then balanced that out on the left side of the layout. I added a simple title to the top and that’s it!

So… talk to me, peeps! If you make layouts are you a heavy journaler? I don’t think I could be. For one.. I hate, hate, haaate my writing. I feel the ugly writing would take away from the beauty of the layouts (for me). I wish I had that pretty loopy writing everyone else seems to have! Yes, I am jealous of others handwriting. lol. One of the EP DT members said it adds to the layout to have ‘your’ writing on it. I dunno.. while I agree, I know MY eyes would just go to the 5 year old looking writing. Hmmm. Then with my latest ‘fish face boy’ layout I printed my journaling.. LOVED IT.. buuuuut, I very rarely know what to say. I can’t say “I love you.. you make me smile.. you’re so cute” on every.single.layout. I can easily have things to say if it were a layout about a Disneyland trip or something.. a birthday party, etc. But what about those layouts where you just use the photos because you like them.. Nothing going on, just a cute kid. I know these are for ‘me’ and I can do whatever the heck I want, but I really am curious to what others do and how their mind works when designing.

Alrighty.. I’m off! Thanks for stopping by!
