Life is the bubbles! Pebbles ‘Party with Amy Locurto’ project

Hey there, friends! Happy Monday! I am FINALLY sharing my project I made with the adorable Pebbles product featured in my last What I’m Working With Wednesday video! (Check it out to see the OTHER goodies in the video!) Hooray! I got kinda busy this weekend so ‘extra’ projects had to be set aside while I finished up some ‘work’.

I think this came out so darn cute.. too cute, really! I love the cartoony look and colors. Now I for sure know I need to order more! I hate that I am drawn to so many styles of product. I love clean, fun, cutesy (like Doodlebug) I love designs somewhere in between (Echo Park, American Crafts (Pebbles) Little Yellow Bicycle, Simple Stories, etc.) and I love things that are more vintage (October Afternoon, Crate Paper..) This is a problem because I think I need.it.all. There are very few companies out thaere that I wouldn’t want to build a house with all their products and live in it…. I could totally make a couch outta Thickers! lol

Anyhow, here’s what I made, design details are posted below the pictures.

Here’s some design tips for ya:

Pebbles papers and stickers
I cut the card base from the Wet n Wild SVG Cuts kit. The front panel is cut with acetate and I filled it up with some chunky Doodlebug glitter. I made a special light blue border to go around the edges to cover the edge of my acetate, plus it just made it look more put together. It’s the details, peeps.. the details!
Over the white bubble stickers I added some glossy accents.. eeeek! I forgot how much I like this stuff on things like bubbles and such. I need to make more bubble projects!
The little sand dollar box is so.stinkin.cute. It’s also from SVG Cuts Wet n Wild kit! I sized it down a bit. The sand dollar is cut with Doodlebug sugar coated paper. Perfect look for a sand dollar! (I’m totally saying in my head, “A sand dollar, make me hollar!” lol I added some stickers, twine, and a button

That’s it! Makes me excited for summer… although, my body is a hot mess so that just means I need to get busy working out more. OK.. there’s actually nothing ‘hot’ about it, I’m just a darn mess… *wiggles arms* SEE! What IS that?.. *flap, flap, flap*

*le sigh*

Time for me to head outta here! You all take it easy.. I am off to ‘work’ some more! Lots of fun projects in the works and I can’t wait to share! Lots of goodies coming the first week of April!

Echo Park ‘SCOOT’ Birthday Truck

I have been so excited to share this project using Echo Park’s SCOOT collection!

I created this back for EP’s booth at winter CHA… It’s really hard for me to not share things right away! Anyone else like that?

Scoot is such an amazing boys collection! I was SO inspired by the cute papers and stickers. I thought a cute birthday boy centerpiece would be fantastic.. but what shall I make?

Of course I fall back to my trusty SVG Cuts files! The Ryan’s Play Date SVG Kit has a perfectly adorable little truck.. and then my birthday boy truck was born! (After a rough 1.5hrs of labor.. pain med free, too!.. LOL!)

So, here it is.. vroom-vroooom!

DESIGN NOTE: Cut the SVG Cuts truck files AS SIZED. I added a button over each wheel and little star stickers on the headlights. You can also use acetate for the windows so they are clear!

CUTE, CUUUUTE! Seriously. What little boy wouldn’t LOVE this?!

I added some gumballs in the back.. The back of the truck is perfect for little treats.

I wanted to jazz it up even more, so I added a rosette onto a dowel and adhered it inside the truck. Added a touch of twine, buttons, ‘flying’ plane, and some more stickers.. The perfect finishing touch!

When I was working on this project I thought of all the cute party decor you could make! Hats, cupcake wrappers, etc. You could get the digital collection and print away all the papers you’d need! I seriously love how Echo Park papers are just SO inspiring to me.

Yummy treat ideas for Valentines Day!

Hello there!

What an eventful weekend I had! I mentioned the other day that my hubby was sick.. well he ended up going to the hospital and being admitted! He’s doing much better now and he is home and resting. He should be going back to work tomorrow so that’s good. Needless to say I didn’t have time to fiddle with my blog over the weekend.

Anyhow, today I am sharing TWO delicious Doodlebug treat packaging ideas! The design team has been very busy with the new Lovebirds collection! Hopefully you’ve had time to stop by the BLOG and see them all.. LOTS of inspiration going on over there.

First off I have a darling lollipop treat box. I found these adorable little heart shaped lollipops and knew I just had to make a project with them.. plus I don’t care for suckers, so the chance of me eating them are slim to none! When I buy M&M’s, etc. for ‘projects’…. yeah… ‘projects’…

‘Project’ GET IN MAH BELLAY!.. LOL!

I wish I had some fake candy that looked REAL. Heck, I would probably still find a way to eat it! lol. Anyhow, back to the lollipop box.. I used the cute ‘glove box’ file from SVG Cuts’ Mother’s Garden kit. I added on a cute scalloped window so you can see the cute lollipops inside. I decorated it and it came together as this:

Back pats to me for the whole photo staging too.. I think it came out super cute! I actually made that heart banner in the back with die cut felt hearts.

I really love the scalloped edges on this box.

For the lollipops I added some washi tape to the stick.. so cute! Yes, Doodlebug has WASHI TAPE now! And it’s awesome!!! The little love notes were perfect tags to add on. With a little twine bow and a small button.. too cute!

Next is this sweet cupcake baggie. This is a cutting file from the Silhouette store. I added on some heart jewels to look like little sprinkles. I can not get over how many embellishments Doodlebug makes. I have it all set up in my Ikea cart and it looks like a miniature candy store with all the COLOR.

So here’s my cute cupcake treat bag:

There’s some more of that cute washi tape! I am a sucker for polka dots!

So what do ya think? Have you snagged yourself some Doodlebug Lovebirds yet? There’s only TEN days left until Valentines day! My hubby and I don’t really play into the ‘Hallmark holiday’ crap.. BUT I do play it up for my kids! I wasn’t able to do their little ‘love party’ for them this past weekend.. sick hubby.. plus my oldest daughter was with her dad and I don’t want her left out, so.. it’s on for this coming weekend! I will be sure to share pics for those that care to see what we are up to over here.

Vintage Birthday Toy Train – An SVG Cuts project

I am WAY too excited to share this with you all! I’m totally looking like a crazy baboon jumping around right now from excitement.. sans the funky red bottoms they have. (What’s up with that anyways?)

OK. I lie. I am just sitting here sipping on coffee and itching to run off and play with some new Doodlebug goodies I just got delivered!

So.. let’s get rolling with this blog post, shall we?

I created this super, SUPER cute ‘vintage’ birthday toy train for SVG Cuts! This thing seriously has to be one of my top 10 favorite projects… and from the looks of it on SVG Cuts Facebook page, you all love it too! Cheers to that! *holds coffee up* *cling* (not too hard though, don’t wanna spill even a drip of this precious Starbucks white mocha!). So, for those that are not on Facebook, or may have missed it.. here it is!

All together now…. “Awwwwww!”

This giraffe is just so cute! Mary from SVG Cuts makes the cutest little cutting files! I actually requested the ‘jungle’ themed Wild Child collection awhile back.. I started something with them and just wasn’t feeling it. I am glad I was finally able to use them in a project!

Everything is connected with a mustard yellow jute cord and buttons.

I love these little star balloons! You can have one if you’d like!

This lion is just hanging out on the back! Probably hoping there’s a fat juicy steak in the gift box!

Funny thing about this lion, he only has one eye.

I know what you’re saying… “No… I see TWO!”.. Crazy Tamara!

SEE! lol! I only had 3 dark brown buttons so either the giraffe or lion had to go without one.

I’m sorry Mr. Lion. Doesn’t mean I love you any less! I knew with that gorgeous flowing mane that you’d be able to pull off the one-eyed look!

Thankfully my Photoshop skills kicked in and I just Photoshopped another right on!

I’ve got skills, peeps! Least I know if I ever lose an eye I can just clone one back on in Photoshop… Wish this worked in real life, lol!

Peppermint Brownie Pops Recipe

So.. I was at Starbucks, yet again.. and had a sweet tooth….. Umm.. yet again.. so I decided to try their peppermint brownie pop. I died. In a good way… lol. It was so yummy with the slightest peppermint flavor. A PERFECT treat for the holidays. However, at $1.50 each.. eh. Not something I would get often.. and I surely wouldn’t gift them to anyone! MINE!

However, my inner Betty Crocker was screaming “You can maaaaake them yourseeeelf”.

So, that’s what I did! And um.. mine taste better! BROWNIE POPS FOR ALL!

The downside to this. I have a pile of them in my house right now! GAH!

(Is that not a delish picture?…. *pats myself on the back*)

I have created a recipe and a little ‘how-to’ for all you who wanna indulge a bit this holiday season!… Or hide in your closet shoving them down your throat. Either way, enjoy! So get outta those skinny jeans and slide into some stretchy waist pants and let’s get started!

Stuff ya need:

Betty Crocker fudge brownie mix. ‘family’ size… (we all know we don’t share with these ‘family’ people. We enjoy the guilt of eating the whole pan to ourselves right?.. ) Anyhow, I found this brand works best. Then again, I only tried one other mix before this one. If ya wanna be all fancy and such, make ‘em from scratch!
Oil, eggs, candy canes, Wilton white chocolate candy melts, clear sugar sprinkles
Lollipop sticks
9×9 baking pan (or 8×8)
A treadmill… to burn off the first batch you somehow consume in less than 24 hours.
Christmas music

How-to:

Bake the brownies! Make them DEEP. 9×9 or 8×8. This makes less ‘crusty’ parts that don’t mix well into the ‘smooshed’ brownies. For the Betty Crocker fudge brownies, I used 1/4c LESS oil than recommended. Crush up 2-3 candy canes really fine and mix into the batter. Bake as directed.
Once the brownies cool, scoop out the center. Again, avoid the ‘crusty’ edge parts. You don’t really want that mixed into the pops because it creates a weird texture and the balls won’t roll as nicely.
Roll ‘em up! Roll the brownies into 1.5″ balls… I won’t judge if you roll yourself ‘special’ 3″ balls. Set onto a plate with a sheet of wax paper over it. Stick a lollipop stick about 3/4th way into the brownie balls and then FREEZE. This is key to ‘perfect pops’. You’ll see!….
Once they are frozen, leave them in the freezer while you crush up some candy canes (4-5 works fine for a batch) and melt your white chocolate. Be VERY careful not to ‘burn’ the white chocolate as you’re melting because it won’t ‘run off’ the pops as nicely. If the white chocolate stays thick on the pop it’s just WAY too sweet and harder to bite into.
Take 3-4 pops out of the freezer at one time. You’ll want them to stay as firm as possible or you’ll have pops sliding off the stick, etc. trust me, I am a pro at this now.. I didn’t get this big ‘ol butt by eating carrot sticks, people!
Dip pops one at a time into the white chocolate. WORK FAST, the frozen pops will set the chocolate pretty fast! When you dip, make sure you cover all the way to the base where the pop meets the stick. This will ‘seal’ it onto the stick really well.
To get a smooth finished look, gently tap the stick onto the dipping bowl as you slowly rotate the pop. Once you notice it starting to set, add some sprinkles and candy cane chunks. Then set the pop aside to firm up! if ya do this right, the chocolate will NOT drop.

TIP: If you have a piece of styrofoam handy this works GREAT to stick the pops in while the chocolate sets. You can grab a 5×5 square piece from the dollar store, that’s what I use!

Simply continue those steps until each pop is done.

That’s it! They look so pretty when done! Create a gift basket by sticking a piece of styrofoam into the basket and creating a pretty pop arrangement. I plan on putting little baggies and ribbons over each one to send in to the school for the teachers. Yummy, yum!

Pebbles guest designer – YAY!

I am way too excited for today! I have all sorts of pretties to share! (Hop on over to the Carta Bella blog hop post, too! I have a giveaway happening over there!) I have been busy over here creating some projects for Pebbles! I was contacted and asked if I would make some goodies to share with their blog readers.. of course I said yes! When my box came I did a little happy dance because I LOVE both collections, especially Tricks & Treats! I ended up ordering even more after seeing it in person. must.have.it.all. I have two other projects to share using that collection, but I need to finish them up first.

Before I share my projects, I want to mention that Pebbles is having a giveaway today on their blog along with my post! Raise your hand if you like free stuff! *raises hand*.. so get on OVER THERE and leave a comment!

Ready for some Treats?… What about some Tricks?… What about some Tricks & Treats? First up is this super cool card! I LOVE how this came out and I REALLY wanted to do a video to show how I made it, but that will have to wait. My house isn’t exactly quiet much. Mama needs a studio… and it would have to be at least a mile away. Right now I have a tiny shoebox craft room and it’s between two kids rooms… sometimes they think this room is THEIR personal art room.. No.. No, monster children, it’s not… and dag nabbit, stop cutting paper with mommy’s fabric scissors!

So, here’s my trick or treat bag card! I saw the round stickers on the sticker sheet and thought, “Hey.. lollipops!” and with that.. a card was born.

Go on.. I’ll let you tell me how stinkin’ cute this it! I wrapped some cellophane around them and tied ‘em up with some Trendy Twine! The little bag was made very easily.. and I promise I will get a tutorial or video up as soon as I can!

How ya like them there lollipops??

Moving on to a simple little gift box. I had something else planned to share, but decided to post this one instead! This gift box was made using the Gimme Candy Boxes SVG Kit from SVG Cuts! I didn’t change anything, simply opened the file in my eCal software and cut it with my Sizziz eclips ! Easy peasy!

Little touch of wire, burlap and a Spooky Cuties SVG Cuts bat, and you’re done!

I added an Epiphany Crafts epoxy sticker to the ‘Eeek’ circle.. just to add some snazz. I’m all about the snazz… and pizazz… and (some) jazz… and being a spazz (most def.)… and..

OK.. I will shut it now.

Don’t wanna make you… mazz… (LOL *snort*. Instead of ‘mad’.. ‘mazz’.. Get it? I got jokes, peeps… I got jokes. I’m available for all your entertainment needs. You know where to fnd me.)

Next up is another cool project! I have been keeping these bottles around for awhile and the Tricks & Treats collection was PERFECT for them! My favorite part? The Thickers! Mmmmmm! Love me some Thickers! Add some glitter to them? Even bet-tah!

So fun! They look great on my table as a decoration. I filled them up with gumballs!

Wouldn’t those be so cool to give as a gift? They would be cute sitting on a teacher’s desk!

Next up is sweet little card. I was also sent Walnut Grove to work with, It’s really beautiful! I love the colors in it.

It’s pretty simple.. and kinda ‘pops’ with the bright coral colored ribbon and dark background. I added some buttons over the daisy stickers which I thought were a cute little touch. Everything’s cuter with a button! (Off to glue a million buttons to myself..)

Today I have a fun treat bag set to share using All Hallows Eve! I Just LOVE a good Halloween collection.. and this one is.. well.. extra, extra good! lol!

So fun! I just got those ghost and spooky tree dies from Sizzix and HAD to use them! I love the look of those ghost floating around on the curled wire. I always say you can tell if it’s my project as it will usually have a die cut, pleated trim, or rosette of some sort… but I think I need to add ‘wire’ to that list. I’ve noticed I’ve been using wire a lot lately!

Here’s some close up shots..

I took the poison label sticker from the All Hallows Eve kit collection and ripped it up a bit and rubbed on some gray ink for a ‘worn’ look. Totally works for this project! I stamped the background of the bag with a Unity distressed dots stamp.

Cute tin Frankenstein pails! Plus a GIVEAWAY!

Hello, everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was rather boring, just hung around the house, did a little shopping, etc. Nothing too exciting. Except for these.. yes, THESE cute little tin Frankenstein buckets made my weekend! I think they came out totally adorable! I came across these little buckets and picked them up thinking I could do ‘something’ with them.. then it clicked! They are the perfect ‘Frankenstein green’!

Cute, cute, sooo stinkin’ cute!

I had a lot of fun making these! I just fired up the Sizziz eclips.. got my vinyl and ribbon out, and started gettin’ down in crafty town!…

Sounds so glamorous, right? ‘Gettin’ down in crafty town’ Ha! A quick project turned into an ordeal with a kid peeling up my vinyl to ‘help’.. GAH! Hellooooo you weirdos. You need yourself some transfer tape! lol. Then it was snacks.. then it was a spider.. then it was wanting to help cut ribbon.. which resulted in a spool of ribbon being completely unwound. Did I mention I love my kiddos?.. lol. It was mid-day on a weekend.. I was already asking for trouble there. And since I have been obsessed with using my new kitchen nook table, I sat out there. That was asking for even MORE trouble.

Note to self: No crafting on weekends ‘by myself’ with all three kiddos here and no hubby around to keep them entertained.

So, after 2.3 anxiety attacks, they were complete!

I added beautimous bows to the ‘girl’ ones. I love the bows! I am not much of a bow maker… but TODAY.. Today the bow gods took me in their hands and guided me to bow-awesomeness!

*Says the expert bow maker reading my blog right now*… “Uh.. that bow looks like it came out of the dumpster after being teethed on by a drooly baby that just ate a jar of carrots”.

OK.. hey there, ‘expert bow maker’. Nobody asked you! Mmmkay?

Moving on…

I added each kiddos name to the back of their pails.

For people with multiple spawns.. Er.. Children.. You know how it is. If it’s not ‘officially’ deemed ‘theirs’ by a name, being licked, etc. it will become a war at one point or another over who’s is who’s. What’s amazing is this doesn’t happen with the messes in their rooms. Nobody wants to claim that, do they?..

I love the bucket stuffing I chose. It looks like messy monster hair! But for $5.00 for a small bag.. it’s borderline robbery. It’s friggin’ shredded plastic for cryin’ out loud! What’s this world coming to?

Obviously I like to be robbed.. as it came home with me anyways.

So, here’s some little deets on how I made it.

The junk:

An electronic die cutter (Sizzix eclips)
Green tin buckets. You can spray paint any ‘ol boring tin pail, too!
Find yourself a monster face cutting file.. or find a way to make your own like I did.
Vinyl; black and white.. and some transfer tape.
A cage… to lock kids in so they don’t destroy your vinyl and un-roll your ribbons.
Ribbon to make bows.. or tie onto the handles.
Hot glue (for bows)
Basket stuffing.. that hopefully isn’t $5.00 a pack like mine was.
Buttons (I used some from Dooodlebug Designs last fall.

First you will need to find a monster face you like in a cutting file format. This was quite the task as there’s not really that many ‘cutesy’ Frankenstein faces out there in SVG file land (hello, SVG making peeps! We want cute monsters!) So, I remembered I had THESE cute cupcake graphics and with some little editing, I used one of the faces! I liked the girly face as well, but with the lashes being so long and lack of hair, it wouldn’t have looked so ‘Frankenstein’ish’

I loaded some vinyl into my Sizzix eclips and cut it! I LOVE that the preset ‘vinyl’ setting cuts the ‘perfect’ kiss cut! AKA: It will cut just the vinyl and not through the backing. This makes transferring WAY easier) Make sure you change your blade setting on the machine, too!

I like to use my Sizzix die pick to weed the vinyl. It comes in the Sizzix TOOL KIT for the eclips, which is a must have kit!

Hello, perfectly cut vinyl pieces! Come to mama!!! I’m-ma ’bout to slap ya on a bucket! And you’re gonna like it!

I cut my vinyl into pieces like this to layer and position easier. First I did the hair/scar, then smile, then the whites of the eyes, and last was the black parts of the eyes. You have to layer them like so:

I did a darn good job! *back pats* I am usually not all that great at layering vinyl just right. There’s a science to it, I swear.. But these.. these came out perfect!

Cute and easy treat bag!

Hey! How’s it going?… Did you all have a nice weekend? I have been prepping and getting some ideas together for all my DIY Halloween decorations I have planned! Did you know I have a full week of Halloween fun that’s gonna be happening here in September? (So you have plenty of time to get Halloween projects done!) More info to come later, but I have some sponsors lined up and will have giveaways all week! I am pretty excited! I will have paper crafts, treat ideas, and DIY decor ideas! Hope you’ll stop by!

Anyhow, since I have Halloween on the brain….. “Mmmmm… Braiiiiiiins” I decided to make a cute and SIMPLE treat bag! I pulled out some fun stamps, my Big Shot, circle framelit dies and got busy!

Did I mention it was simple? Sometimes we all NEED simple, right?

I love the stitched twine.. cute stamps and the buttons… and yes, even that black licorice that most people hate!.. lol

Here’s some detail shots on how I made it!

Supplies:

Kraft Bags
Trendy Twine
Buttons
Big Shot (or other manual die cutter)
Sizzix circle framelits
Sizzix eclips (or other electronic die cutter)
Sizzix bubble embossing folder
SVG Cuts Scalloped Shapes (so handy to have!)
Halloween Stamps (Unity and My Mind’s Eye)
Ink
Acetate
Adhesive

To create the window on my bag I inserted a framelit die into the bag with the cuting side facing the front of the bag. Line it up the best you can. I held mine up to the window to see through it and get my placement just right!

Emboss a piece of acetate for the window.

Eat a Twinkie.

(LOL! Yes.. I was eating a twinkie.. or tried to.. I haven’t had one in awhile and YUCK! Nevermind that mess…)

Ink the edges in gray. Colorbox ‘Antique Pewter’ is my FAVORITE gray for Halloween projects!

I cut a scalloped frame with my Sizzix eclips from SVG Cuts ‘Scalloped Shapes’ collection. I used a medium circle frame sized to 3.162″. This will fit perfectly over the opening when you use the 3″ framlits die.

Then begin stamping! Embellish with buttons and fill up the bag with treats! (or, if you’re cheap like me and only had 2 1/2 pieces of black licorice).

To close up the bag I stitched over the twine on the front and through the bag, and then wraped the twine around and tied a bow with a stamped tag! Cuteness!

That’s it! A cute and fun way to package treats… and use stamps that you may or may not be hoarding.. or.. ‘collecting’.

Oh.. and when I said I used 2 1/2 pieces of licorice.. I wasn’t kidding. Here you can see when it slipped down and exposed it’s ripped apart self! LOL!!!

I am so honored that Little Yellow Bicycle asked me back again to be on their ‘Splash’ cycling team! This collection is fabulous! And of course, I just love all the LYB embellishments! It’s hard to not want to pile them all on one project! LOL!

I have two spots for projects this month, but here is my first! I am really into making little gift sets (bags, boxes.. more boxes) and cards to go with them, so.. that’s what I did!…. “I mean REALLY. How many stinking bags and boxes is this chick gonna make?” <—- That’s what I imagine you saying. Ah well.. It’s what I do.. it’s what I like to make. So.. here’s a bag! A burlap bag though! I haven’t done one of these yet.. and now I love ‘em.. so be prepared for more. There. I’ve warned ya! There will surely be a burlap infestation going on here soon enough!

But c’mon.. how stinkin’ CUTE is this! Really now.

No really.. tell me how cute it is!

The tag is my favorite part! I stitched a piece of acetate over the tag and filled it with sand! Then stitched over the top to close it up… snazzy stuff right there, folks!

That little burlap and felt flower was my inspiration on making this bag. I saw the burlap on this flower and I was DYING to cut into my new pile of burlap I got.. I’ve seen burlap bags everywhere, but most recently from my friend Thienly at Mod Paperie. So I cut some up and stitched it with a pretty teal thread. I love how the thread color just pops against the light colored burlap!

Shhhhh… just enjoy the bag… embrace the bag… looooove the bag.

*throws hands up* OK, OK.. I’m done! No more bag pictures.

But I have a caaaaard….

I cut along some of the waves on the patterned paper with my craft knife, rolled them down a bit, and stuck a fish in it! Looks like the fish are happily swimming along.. minding their own business.. until a shark sneaks up behind them… and then.. well, this is a family blog, people. I am sure you can imagine what happened next.

*Hands Mr. Shark a toothpick*

I love, love, love andwannamarry this vellum tape here! I like it even more than washi tape! This collection comes with several strips of vellum tape. And well. it’s awesome. You need it. Trust me.
